From the environmental charity CPRE (Council for the Protection of Rural England?) London. This Saturday they are running an nature cycle event in Dulwich Park.

It'll be a gently paced cycle starting from Herne Hill Velodrome, going on to explore all the beautiful nature of Dulwich Park in more detail and thereby boost everyone's knowledge of their local area. The event will be led by gifted writer, botanist and nature communicator, Leif Bersweden and everyone will be introduced to the wonderful trees and wild plants of south-east London.

By looking at everything from native and naturalised trees, to the tiniest plants sprouting from cracks in the pavement, you'll add to your knowledge of the local area, learn about the plants with which you share your home city, and gain an increased understanding and appreciation of London's plant life. Plants are just as crafty, determined and devious as animals are when they're after something, we just need to take the time to stop and notice them!

It is thanks to the help and involvement of the Linnean Society of London - that your guide will be Leif Bersweden, a writer, botanist and nature communicator with a face-down, bottom-up approach to watching wildlife. Leif grew up in Wiltshire where he taught himself how to identify the local flora and has been championing our wild plants and the joy they bring ever since. He is the author of The Orchid Hunter and Where the Wildflowers Grow.

This event is welcome to everyone, no matter their limitations, and would be especially beneficial for individuals who find it easier to cycle than walk! This event has been organised in partnership with Wheels for Wellbeing, a charity who have worked with thousands of Disabled children and adults who face barriers to taking part in any physical activity and have shown that anyone can enjoy cycling, given the right equipment, support and environment. An accompanying companion and other family members are also welcome

If you need an adapted bike fot this event, Wheels for Wellbeing can provide the cycling equipment you require. You'll need to contact them in advance to arrange a suitable bicycle that works for you. Please contact them to arrange this at [email protected] or 0207 346 8482 as soon as possible

Tickets are £5 per attendee for working adults or £2.50 if you are not working, over 60 or under 15. We want this event to be accessible to all so if that payment a barrier to you, please email [email protected]
