Doopodoopo Gallery
PETITIONSave Our Community BusinessesWe the undersigned strongly believe that Lewisham Council should reconsider its position regarding Discretionary Rates Relief in respect of Community Groups and Community Interest Companies. We are particularly concerned regarding the current level of rates that are demanded from our community assets and which make them unsustainable. We are particularly aggrieved with the current situation regarding the new community based business, Doopo Doopo, located at 15 Dartmouth Road, SE233HN.We believe that assets within the Borough that are social businesses and clearly supporting the local community should receive discretionary relief on the same basis as neighbouring boroughs and trust that you will reconsider this decision and re-evaluate the current charges. This petition is supported by:FOREST HILL SOCIETY AndSHOP REVOLUTION: delivering POP-UP SHOPS for SEE3 You can help us by signing the petition in the Gallery:15 Dartmouth Road, SE23Or on the website:doopodoopo.co.ukThank you so much for your support, it is utterly important for us.The petition will presented by our local Councillor Alex Feaks in front of the Mayer on the 26th of June. Marmora Man
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but essentially you're asking other businesses and Council Tax payers to subsidise your Community Group and Community Interest Companies. This may be entirely appropriate and a GOOD THING - providing the Community Interest Companies aren't using the subsidy to compete with mainstream ordinary businesses such as a greengrocer, stationers, art supplies shop, restaurants and so on Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33405-petition-save-our-community-businesses/#findComment-655401 Share on other sites
