Removing an ancient dehumidifier from hallway ceiling - thoughts and advice?

Recommended Posts

We have what appears to be ancient dehumidifier built into the hallway of our basement flat, that we want to remove.

There is a small device that when turned on sounds like an extractor fan, and then behind it the ceiling is boxed in until you reach the front door.

I'm just wondering if anyone has encountered anything similar to this? I'm not quite sure who I should ask to come in and remove it (an electrician?). It's still live (I can turn it on) but then what about all the pipes that appear to be leading out of it?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just a bit perplexed and would appreciate any thoughts!

Ideally I'd like to get this out of my life this weekend.

Have you thought that it serves a purpose?

Saying that you have a basement flat would imply that there is damp or condensation present, to remove this extractor could cause you a lot of problems, unless you intend using another more suitable unit.

Try hanging a tissue over the outlet vent pipe to see if it becomes damp.

    • Hi there! I just want to recommend the cleaning services of Gardênia Gasparette. Her lovely, professional cleaners clean our airbnb property to an excellent standard. They even iron the sheets for the Airbnb! The towels are always rolled up and arranged on the beds like it’s a spa and the corners of the toilet rolls folded in so it all looks lovely. Gardênia services are competitively priced and she also does domestic cleans and ironing. You can contact Gardênia on the number below.  +44 7709 333446  Thanks!
    • Hi there,  I am currently making a small independent short film and we are looking to shoot some scenes across 21 and 22nd June at Dawson's Heights. The story follows two young kids playing together over the course of a summer's evening. The scenes we are shooting would be on the grassy area and playground opposite the building.  We think the location is absolutely beautiful and think it would be a perfect location for our film! I am trying to track down any residents that live at Dawson's Heights, who may be able to point me towards the right point of contact to see if we can get the correct permissions in place.  Our small crew are all industry professionals and would treat the location with the utmost respect, and will leave the location exactly how we found it.  Thanks so much in advance.  All the best,  Rob

Re Romeo Jones, rising costs were the primary reason for closure, but the LTNs had created a situation where revenue has been noticeably down since they were introduced, making businesses vulnerable to any other blows.
