Rockets
Earl, I repeat...do you mean the temporary widening implemented with plastic bollards outside of Moxons? By the way, looks like the council just completed their latest consultation...look for the results of which to be used to justify their next grand scheme.....;-) "You told us....." Rockets
....After years of, disastrously, using the LCC to single-handedly mould active travel policy across the borough Southwark Council tried a different approach and turned to Year 5 and 6 pupils in the hope of developing something more balanced, pragmatic and fairer to all transport modes.....;-) On 07/12/2023 at 22:52, Rockets said: Earl, I repeat...do you mean the temporary widening implemented with plastic bollards outside of Moxons? first mate
So part of theCouncil's Streets for People Work is to visit local primary schools and do what exactly? How are the young children invited to make drawings and banners about the environment and pollution? Assuming this is a council funded exercise, I'd like to know more. I am aware Cllr McAsh is a primary school teacher as his day job, but really this seems a bit desperate. Rockets
Remember they said that the mandate for Southwark-wide CPZs was a document that was born out of "research" conducted with a large proportion of school children and students in the north of Southwark.....so this could well be part of a "consultation" thay will determine what measures we get forced upon us in future ...;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/337380-consultations-cycling-plan-walking-plan-electric-vehicle-plan/page/2/#findComment-1649160 Share on other sites
malumbu
It's good to involve the passengers, cyclists and drivers of the future, hopefully they will have a very different view than current generations, heavens they will inherit a different world. first mate
Perhaps I am alone, but I find the idea of using children to support political agendas a little bit questionable. Rockets
Feel free to involve them but don't base future policy and decisions on their input alone (or use them to tip the balance in your favour) when you can't convince adults that live in the affected area to support your ideas...which Southwark Labour is doing and has done. malumbu
FM, then write to the major political parties as they have been visiting schools and kissing babies for generations. Rocks, feel free to vote for another political party or if you want to influence Labour join the party, be active in your constituency and maybe stand as a councillor yourself. Pester power ie kids understanding what is right and then pestering their parents is a useful thing. Eg not letting engines idle outside schools, walk to school days and the like.
