Two rides for Sat 9th December.

Ride 1, Dec 9th.  Snowmen in the City < < https:/www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/snowmen-in-the-city-tickets-769226245407  >  10h00 start at Emma Cons Gardens, The Cut, London SE1 8LN (opposite the Old Vic). Inspired by The Twelve Days of Christmas, designed by various artists, 12 "Snowmen" are to be found tucked away at different sites between Fleet Street ad St Pauls. We'll aim to find as many as we can on a stop-start fun ride. Hope to take about 2 hours, a bit longer if we find somewhere for coffee.  Jane leading. Note we will be limiting numbers to 12. So if you register but then cannot come, please cancel (link below).

Ride 2, Dec 9th. Canada Water to Buckingham Palace  < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/canada-water-to-buckingham-palace-tickets-769218010777> 10am. Start/finish in Deal Porter Square, next to Canada Water library and over the road from CW Station,  SE16 7AR. You can also join the ride at London Bridge; be at the Southwark Gateway Needle, south east side of bridge, at 10.20. Easy, 10 mile, 2.5 hour, flat ride that goes across London Bridge, along Embankment (Cycleway 3) and passes Houses of Parliament, St James Park and Buckingham Palace.  Return starts across Westminster Bridge then keeps to the south side of the river, along Lower Marsh, then mostly Cycleway14 - Union Street, Leathermarket St, Tanner St, Dockhead, ending with Thames path route back to CW. Although we are on some busy roads, most have a cycle lane or bus lane. Coffee stop at Dockhead. Please indicate when registering if you intend to join at London Bridge.

If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. How to cancel link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/575010/how-to-cancel-your-free-registration/

These rides are organised by Southwark Cyclists and are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.

    • Most women are killed by someone they know, not a stranger. However I think all women moderate their behaviour when on their own, walking at night especially as they fear danger. Two interesting articles https://www.statista.com/statistics/288298/female-victims-of-homicide-england-and-wales-by-relationship-to-offender/?srsltid=AfmBOoqZ9-CIEJWe9kesKy2G_KWxjXPh-tXMRsLvKim0M6mS00dksiKH https://www.theguardian.com/education/2025/sep/23/majority-of-girls-and-young-women-in-uk-alter-behaviour-to-feel-safe-study-finds?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other   Other crimes https://crimerate.co.uk/london personally I always go for the most crowded train carriage late evening and I carry my keys in my hand when walking from the train station…. It’s that fear of violence that is scary …
    • What ever they decide I would have thought that the skate park would not be staying but really hope I am wrong as in my minds eye, I see the skate park as potential parking spaces after all if it is going to be community, flats, retail units, cafe, etc folks are going to want to have the parking availability - Amir like the parade of shops opposite. if the skate park goes then I think it is Dulwich Estate obligation to find another suitable area… a lot of community spirit and hard work went into developing the skate park and the youngsters should be very proud of what they have done  and achieved.
    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
    • Years ago, got my ears pierced, alcohol on site, gun ..done.. Simple.. Gosh, surely your daughter of mothers can recommend  - do you really need to post on forum? Or maybe you home school whatever.. still recovering from shock, posted along the lines of, advice needed about adopting/ buying a dog…. Guess I am now at a age, where I should just keep quiet and pass no comment and read  postings like a “soap” - cheaper than tv licence…
