20240123_085723.thumb.jpg.a8de1683b63a890f00bfcc9baca00289.jpgThis young unneutured cat has been hanging around the houses and gardens of Friern and Upland roads for a while.  He's not microchipped. He regularly is going into people's homes and is either very bold or desperate as household cats and dogs don't phase him!

If he's yours or you know the owners please message me

Thanks

This looks like the cat I’ve just posted about today that’s been caterwauling behind Dominic Court in The Gardens. How do you know it’s not microchipped? (If you don’t mind me asking). I’ve been asking around & nobody here seems to own it. It was wailing late last night & this afternoon. I was thinking about feeding it in situ for now as it’s either calling for a mate or horribly hungry or worse, sick 😞 I can’t take it in as my cat would go berserk. He’s already chased the same cat (I think) from my garden.

A neighbour works for the Dogs Trust so has a scanner and we were able to scan him and find out he isn't chipped.  Or neutered!  We ( in Friern and Upland roads) are concerned about him as no one seems to know who he belongs to and he appears hungry ( or just extremely greedy). He wanders into lots of houses.

👍 good to know and that others are also on the case for him.  He could be the same cat that’s been wailing behind Dominic Court.

But now not sure if it’s the same unneutured tabby I used to sometimes see in my back garden (until my newly adopted cat was allowed out last Oct…)

Could be 3 separate stray tabbies😼

Probably worth visiting Dominic Court carpark in The Gardens then & seeing if the wailing tabby is still around. I went today and didn’t catch sight or hear anything but he might still return behind the big builder containers there. When I last heard/saw it, he stopped vocalising but wouldn’t come near me. He just sat and stared.

I'm wondering if they are two different tabby cats? The one in your garden ED09 looks like a stripey tabby,  the one in Friern/Upland roads is more spots. And he is friendly and happy to be stroked. But getting him scanned would be good.

I'm wondering with the cost of living crisis people are not neutering their animals? Or getting them microchipped,  which will be a legal requirement after June this year.

Yes, I see what you mean about the one in my back garden. I haven’t seen it here since. It was definitely unneutured.
And the cat behind Dominic Court could be yet a third stray 😞 He wouldn’t come down from up behind the fence when I saw him. I couldn’t see if his whole body was striped or not. Just saw his stripey face and a bit of his shoulder. I spoke to the workmen yesterday and they said they hadn’t seen it since last Friday. They said they’d heard his yowling and checked the containers to ensure he wasn’t stuck anywhere before they left the site for the weekend. The last time I saw him was the next day - the Sat when I took the photo.

Sadly the cost of living crisis does seem to be leading to more strays and unneutured cats without microchips. I believe CHAT and other shelters are bursting at the seams.

    • Have an accident with a toe! I recently lost the nail of  my big toe. It was weakened because of a fungus, I think, and I accidentally kicked the toe with my  other foot. It bled a lot.  I was directed from the nurse of my GP practice (who temporarily dressed the toe but said it needed an expert) to the Southwark walk in  foot clinic in Bermondsey (the walk in clinics are on different days of the week in different locations, and the toe needed immediate attention). From there, I got a follow up appointment a couple of weeks  later  at the rather more convenient Tessa Jowell foot clinic. Following the wound check, I was pleased and surprised that I not only got all my toenails cut,  but was given the very sharp clippers (the podiatrist having first ascertained that my eyesight was ok). I did ask if she could give me a manicure as well, but sadly the answer was no 🤣 ETA: As you probably know, these clinics won't just cut toenails, there has to be something else wrong.  I had no idea toenail cutting was so expensive! I've always just done it myself!
