I did powerpramming for a while, it was good fun, it's on thurs in Dulwich Park (http://www.powerpramming.co.uk/class-directory.html). Plus the leisure centre has a creche that will take kids from 6months on if you wanted to use the gym or classes/swimming.

good luck

Hello onthehill.

My name is Liz Stuart and I hold the Powerpramming classes. You are very welcome to come along and see how it goes. There is not a booking system. Just turn up and Pay as you go. It is ?6.50.

We do a mixture of exercises focusing on posture, flexibility, balance, strength and cardio. All important componenets to overall fitness.

I am qualified in teaching ante and postnatal exercise. I encourage people to work at their own pace due to the nature of the class. If people want to work hard they can and if they want to take it easy (perhaps had a series of rough nights or just returning to exercise) they are comfortable to do that too.

All general info about what to wear and what to bring etc is on the website www.powerpramming.co.uk

The class convenient to you is Thurs at 10am in Dulwich Park. We meet at the Court Lane Gate and the class lasts 1 hour.

I hope you can make it. Any pram in working order is fine to bring and you do not need to run either. You can stick to low impact Powerwalking if that suits you (as it does many people).

Thanks mima08 for mentioning it :-)

I second the recommendation for Powerpramming - it's good fun, as tough as you want it to be, and a nice social way to exercise with our Mums.

After each baby I've found just getting out and about and walking (fast) is great for getting back into shape - work it in with a nap time so that you can enjoy the fresh air while your baby sleeps in the buggy. Also jogging/running with the buggy if you're up to it,

I've also, after having my 3rd baby, become quite a fan of exercise DVD's. in particular the more recent Davina ones (disclaimer, my friend is the producer, but they really are good), and for a short sharp tough workout the 30 Day Shred is great. I did it this morning and the 20 minute workout had me sweating more than my 45 min run the day before. Very tough but worth it.

These days I try to get up early and do my exercise before the kids are up for the day - which means I can go for a run without the buggy which I much prefer.

Have fun x

hi,

I plan to open a dance class for mums and babies on latin rythms such as salsa, merengue, ... in the area.

It will be a great way to workout in a fun athmosphere and dancing with your little one on a carrier or a sling.

I have a newborn boy and he already loves when I dance with him and i think it will be even better to do that with other mums and babies.

I open a thread on the forum calle LATIN RYTHMS FOR BABIES. Just add a comment on it and I will keep you updated.

    • I've found it quite a useful thread.  Apparently protein powders are toxic. Not that I have ever, or will ever, try them.   https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/the-hidden-dangers-of-protein-powders
    • Personally can’t stand carpets however where I am renting has carpet in  bedroom and hall. Not great quality and certainly not cleaned. Was  in B & M recently and looking at carpet shampoo -wow got a can costing £2.99 to test.. No scrubbing as others seemed to imply. Spray, leave and poof - smells great, no dabbing or scrubbing and c leaving rubbish. First to admit is only temp solution but no need to hire carpet cleaner instantly  or pay for a company to come and deal with professionally. For 3/6 months happy to have used this - Have a carpet cleaner and in a month or so plan to use it.    Buy a steam cleaner for floors - not expensive - much better than mop and bucket and more hygienic all round. Can pick up second hand ones on e bay.
    • Is this a true story? What protein powder causes kidney damage? Why didn't you cite an article? I shop at H&B, mostly to buy their castor oil, however, I would recommend researching any product beforehand. They do have very informative articles on their website. To be honest, I don't see the point of this post. You could have just taken the product back for a refund or complained in store and in writing.
    • Well the Italian on Lordship Lane  recommended here was delicious.  Thank you so very much -my party were extremely pleased with ambience, location and lovely food plus puddings to die for. They are also on Deliveroo.  Will certainly be back when I am back in 6 weeks time. Went past Love Dulwich at lunchtime on my way to Italian - only a party of 2 - food might be excellent but decided to give it a miss - wasn’t impressed with manager who admitted he had only been there 2 weeks. Might be being totally unfair but doubt it, as no comments since about a month ago from Pugwash.
