I was told this afternoon that dogs are again being poisoned in Peckham Rye & Park - including a young healthy Weimaraner. Does anyone have information? This same twisted campaign appeared several years ago. Southwark Council's response was point blank refusal to investigate, or even commission testing of samples. No warning notices were ever displayed.

Also. There has been giardiasis in dogs using the Park, presumably from the stagnant seasonal ponds. Giardia is a nastly little gut parasite, not dealt with by standard dosing. It can be dangerous to old or vulnerable dogs - and people can catch it. Again, does anyone have anything to share? Southwark could addressed this problem - at the least, posted warnings.

Does this info come via local vets? It would be good if one of them would make a post and contact LB Southwark about this.  Do you know any details of the poison?

No there was a case of a wiemaraner being poisoned on Peckham rye but this was a couple of years ago..

the rat traps popped around the park are very clearly marked and tend to be around the ponds inside the railings

don’t know enough about the stagnant water, but the main pond (and wildlife garden pond) are behind railings so should not be a problem. The other stream  areas are clear running water so should be fine?

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
