TALK: Planning Ahead for the One Thing in Life we know is certain: Death. Tuesday 14th May 18:30 at the East Dulwich Tavern

Recommended Posts

Join us on Tuesday for a stimulating and thought provoking practical talk about planning ahead.

Planning ahead for the one thing in life we know is certain: Death

Ann Kenrick and Trevor Moore will lead an interactive, informative and thought provoking evening explaining the key decisions you can make in advance, to ease the burden on your family and friends if you lose mental capacity and when your life finally ends: formal matters like Lasting Powers of Attorney for financial affairs and for health and care and Advance Decisions to refuse medical treatment; informal matters like the type of funeral you would like and end-of-life care options.

Let's embrace this sensitive topic and take steps to create a legacy of care and consideration for others.

Ann Kenrick is former CEO of the Charterhouse almshouse, member of the Education and Research Committee of St Christopher's Hospice and founder of End of Life Matters, a venture supporting people of all ages to create end of life plans and give them peace of mind.

Trevor Moore is a humanist celebrant and Chair of My Death, My Decision.

    • Charity shops have really good board books, especially St Christopher's
    • It was indeed in the vicinity of DKH. I live on the ED estate and I could tell it must be close by because of the noise. When I left my house this morning I found the culprits litter still in the middle of the st. It looked like they had lit a whole box on fire in the middle of the road. My cat jumped out of her skin. I’ll try and report it on Southwark website same as I have had to with other illegal use this week. Any other ideas for what we can do with the photos? Maybe one of the Southwark councillors. It’s outrageous and dangerous behaviour.
    • Had another great meal there…. those that haven’t tried it, give it a go.. have a special lunch menu as well so you can get a flavour of the food.
    • If you "cotton on" and read the council announcement, it clearly states "The library will be closed from 17 November until late June or early July 2026."  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/2025/dulwich-library-closing-refurbishment
