A friend of mine has had a theft outside a Worlingham Road flat. A sofa was delivered today while they weren’t home and wasn’t there when they returned. It would have been a sizeable delivery. Really concerning that this is happening locally. Did anyone see the delivery / theft. Please check CCTV / ring doorbell between 16.00 and 18.00 so we can share details with the police.

Negligence on the part of the company and/or the courier then, surely?

And/or some sort of prior arrangement between the driver and whoever made off with the sofa? It's rather a large thing to be a random theft by a passer by!

Err Sherlock, toe-rag sees sofa left outside, phones fellow toe-rag who comes along in a van, they place sofa in van. Gone.

Hopefully that's the case, unless the receiver left specific instructions concerning a safe place (i.e. behind the bins) in which case the receiver is deemed to have accepted the goods and their responsibility if they go missing.

Obviously in this case a safe place would be hard to identify but none the less if any instructions were given to leave it if no one is in then responsibility is removed from the company and courier.

Equally, I've had cases where a delivery didn't occur and tracking shows it had, only for delivery actually occur a day or days later.

    • Why have things got so complicated? I suppose a cat flap with a timer might be useful for people out all day but can't really see the point of them when its so easy to flip a simple mechanical lock. This is how my last cat flap operated but had to be replaced when cat wearing cone of shame tried to escape and broke it. The cat flap I have now is one of those linked to cats microchip but even then there is just a four way dial which allows different kinds of access - or not. Not that cat is bothered, refuses to use it and demands i open the door for her. This is bit of a rant because along with a new boiler I got a new electronic programmer which is really annoying as it takes 5 minutes to change a simple temperature whereas with old programmer it took 10 seconds. Hope you get sorted @oglander and enjoy your future servitude to your feline master.

    • Good morning, neighbours! We have around 1,000+ glasses like these from a café that just closed down. Not sure if anyone would like to keep some before we send them to charity. Please feel free to come and pick them up at 22 Upland Road, SE22 9EF anytime before 31st Oct😉
    • What "stricter" consequences could there be for shoplifting (or any other crime) than being put into jail, do you think? Though our prisons are of course full enough already, without more people being shoehorned  into them.
