two free sociable cycle rides Sat July 6th

NOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers, links below.
On the 6th July we have two rides, both quite short. One is a new ride from Jane, the other a familiar outing to London’s tourist hotspots with Simon K.

A new Healthy Ride to be led by our very experienced Ride Leader Jane C. Start: 10h00 at Emma Cons Gardens, The Cut, London SE1 8LN (Opposite The Old Vic, near Waterloo Station). Finish: 13h00 at Emma Cons Gardens. Jane says: ”A 13 mile ride passing some established parks & gardens, street planting and new landscaping from the City to Chelsea, Battersea Power Station & Vauxhall. Should be some lovely stuff to see. We can stop or slow down to take a closer look in places if required but generally we'll keep moving! Usual mix of cycle ways and quieter streets with some short sections on busier roads and crossings at junctions”. The attached image is to give a general Idea of the route – probably be a bit different in practice. Coffee stop at Storey's Gate probably.

Ride 2, Canada Water to Buckingham Palace  < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/canada-water-to-buckingham-palace-cycle-ride-tickets-937802190597 >  10am. Start/finish in Deal Porter Square, next to Canada Water library and over the road from CW Station,  SE16 7AR. You can also join the ride at London Bridge; be at the Southwark Gateway Needle, south east side of bridge, at 10.20. Easy, 10 mile, 2.5 hour, flat ride that starts along Cycleway 4 then goes across London Bridge, along Embankment (Cycleway 3) and passes Houses of Parliament, St James Park and Buckingham Palace.  Return starts across Westminster Bridge then keeps to the south side of the river, along Lower Marsh, then mostly Cycleway14 - Union Street, Leathermarket St, Tanner St, Dockhead, ending with Thames path route/C14 back to CW. Although we are on some busy roads, most have a cycle lane or bus lane. Possible coffee stop at Dockhead. Ride leader Simon K.  Please indicate when registering if you intend to join at London Bridge.
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Same for “adults at risk”.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. How to cancel link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/575010/how-to-cancel-your-free-registration/.
This ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

It has been planned for ages and was supposed to start today but there are no signposts up yet. There is another separate school street which covers Etherow street and Friern Road between Goodrich Road and Lordship Lane.
