I've just been given a penalty charge notice for using a route restricted to certain vehicles on Townley Road Junction Calton Avenue as there's a bus gate. I must have missed this before and indeed I've driven down there many times without having a fine. Has anyone else been hit by this recently? Has this camera just been added and i've been breaking the law all this time?

The prohibition is only at particular times of day.  Could your previous passages have been at other times?  That said, I do recall seeing what I thought was criminal damage to the camera earlier this year.

I'd try appealing, if I were you. I did (after driving down twice!) and was let off the second PCN. There have been so many PCNs issued there, I suspect they know the placement of the sign isn't clear and I suspect they've cancelled quite a lot  issued to drivers for that area.

    • Would this not be a complaint better aimed at the council? Isn't it an anti social behaviour issue?  I think of myself as pretty live-and-let-live and feel like a miserable cow for saying this, but I do think I might complain. Personally I love the sound of fireworks but our dog is under the table, shaking like a leaf night after night and collapses in the street when he hears the noise.  I'm worried his heart'll give out.
    • The lower / no bang noise fireworks sound great.    Is there anywhere local selling those?
    • This petition to reduce the noise of fireworks is currently going through Parliament https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/738192
    • Have you complained to the solicitor directly and did they respond within the 8 weeks they have under their code of conduct - I presume they have and this is why you have escalated further to the SRA? If he doesn't respond in a timely fashion per the SRA code of conduct then I am sure they will need to take action.
