"Roads are dangerous, which is why breaking a traffic law is serious business. At least, that is the case when you’re in a car."

I mean, no, it's not. The most basic traffic law is the speed limit, and we know from real life that huge numbers of road users speed and practically no-one gets done for it. In observed 30mph locations, 8% of all traffic was speeding by more than 10%. The way that we detect, investigate and prosecute traffic crime shows that it is not a serious business in this country.

Scooters are dangerous to the riders - that's separate and I agree.

I'm curious, and I agree we don't detect traffic crime as well.as we should and that includes all forms of transport, how can we improve on detection. This is important to understand with falling police numbers and officers already stretched beyond breaking.

It's not just about speeding offences, therefore more cameras isn't the only solution

    • Yes, should have given up by now but haven’t. Was waiting for my train yesterday and went into WHS on platform to buy a pack of fags. Almost feel to the floor when guy quoted me £28.00 for a packet of Silk Cut purple. Was a long day for me and thought I had totally misheard him! Asked again, only to be told that that was the price whuch is well over the odds..when I queried it as have bought, admittedly end of last year was told “ this is what management charges”. Surely this can’t be right…fags stayed in WHS paws while I bought some in Herne Hill at normal price. Still reeling over shock…..
    • I use the one in peckham where lidles is they are really good if you need somewhere closer
    • Going to be really inconvenient for folk to go that way as has been stated.. why not just move to Camberwell which I would assume is abit nearer and better travelling wise or have vets in both places from Lordship Lane Branch.. Must have been massive flood if going to take two months to dry out, electrical tests to make sure all good… From upstairs? Or where?
    • @selector73 Thanks!  Because we want him to be treated by the vets that know him we will have to get to the New X branch because thats where the team are based until LL reopens. Thank you again 🙏
