Good Luck Rob and Alex!Β  When me and my family managed to get our three bedroomΒ  house in ED in 1980 we had two children and my wife was pregnant with our second son. The house was semi derelict, wiring condemned, damp proof shot, roof needed fixing and so did most of the window frames. We got the upstairs wired and made ourselves at home upstairs with the front bedroom as kitchen/living room and the works begun, then we had snow and blizzards the following winter with no central heating! My recently retired carpenter father in law and I started by rebuilding the bathroom and then the rest of the jobs. Luckily we got grants from the council then, which helped, but having a full time job to pay the 11% interest mortgage I had to work weekends and holidays for about two years to finish everything. Well, now it was all worth it living in the heart of ED near the market but I'm still up a ladder this week at 76 years old to redecorate the front of the house again but it keeps me fit!

    • @first mateΒ I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.Β  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.Β
    • Some of us oldies would associate Grove with the old Grove Vale School (which I went to in the 1950s)
    • The toilets at this spot in the park have been vandalised to such an extent that they are now closed.
    • Hello! I'm looking for 2-3 baby gates I can borrow from 17th August - 6th September for a visitor. Β Does anyone have any I could use? Thank you!Β
