Indoor Table Tennis at Wavelength Leisure, anyone like to have a game or workout in a park with me?

Recommended Posts

I know this is a Dulwich forum, but I can't find any leisure centres where we can book an indoor table tennis table in our neighbourhood or surrounding boroughs. Wavelength in Deptford appears to be the nearest leisure centre with a bookable table tennis that I can find.  I know there are local table tennis clubs, but I am not keen on committing to any memberships. Wavelength prices is surprising cheap, though, at £6.50 per hour per table, so split the cost for two players. At least that is my interpretation from the website.

I am an average/intermediate standard player but not having played for a few years (...well, not in the real world...I'll explain shortly!) so I will be rusty.  Would any of you like to have a game? Or do you know of a closer venue? I am not keen on outdoor tables as my experience with them is uncomfortable (wind and uneven ground).

Don't laugh but when I said not in the real world, well I have been playing Table tennis in Virtual Reality (Quest 2/3 for those of you who know about VR headsets) which feels extraordinarily like the real thing, So I am keen to compare how it realistic it really is!

I am also keen to becoming healthy fit (or in other words lose the unwanted bodyfat that is on me!), so I am also keen to doing workouts in a park for which I have qualified knowledge in fitness/body fat loss training. I have a lot of resistance bands that I can share with anyone who would like to work out with me.

I do also play Squash and Badminton and good at both but for now, table tennis is my sole interest.

Anyone like to play a game or workout with me? Or have you any pointers where I can play, maybe a club night TT session anywhere.

Thanks

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may  be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
