On the 31st August we have two rides, very different in character.  One is a new longish ride from Dulwich to Bishops Park. The other is a shorter ride showcasing the off-road Waterlink Way

A 17 mile loop, starting from the Dulwich Park café (Dulwich Clock Café, middle of park) at 10am. Outward route via Brockwell Park and Clapham Common to Wandsworth Bridge, then along the Thames Path to Putney Bridge for Bishop’s Park, where we will have our coffee break. Return via New King’s Rd , crossing the river for Battersea Park, and back via Clapham Common to reach Dulwich Park by 2pm.  Ride leader John S.
13 mile easy cycling route. Start/finish Peckham Square (Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, Peckham Library). Meet 10am, back at 1pm. Ride to Ladywell Fields, then up and down Waterlink Way. This is one of the nicest off-road paths in London, about 1.2 miles.  Then National Route 21 via Brookmill Park to Cutty Sark. Final leg back to Peckham via Folkstone Gardens and Bridgehouse Meadows.  Easy ride. Bit of uphill at start then downhill or flat. Lots of off road or cycle lane. Good ride for less confident cyclists – and a coffee stop at Ladywell Fields (Good Hope Café).  Bruce leading. Report from 2023 ride https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2023/healthy-ride-reports-sept-2nd-2023/. Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.
This ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

    • Hi  I really thought I'd seen a more recent post on the forum about home education meet ups. I can't find it though. • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
    • Was anyone else disturbed last night/early hours this morning by the party going on in someone’s garden on Crystal Palace road. Can’t see what house exactly but it’s around number 43 - 41… it was happening quite frequently last year. Seems it’s starting again! Very inconsiderate.
