My 2.5y loves imaginary play and mimicking adults so perhaps things like toy kitchen with utensil (ikea ones are on special offer at the moment and are great); tea set; buggy with doll etc (a firm favourite; dressing up clothes/ doctor's kit.


Other favourites include megabloks, scooter, balance bike (our daughter doesn't have one but they look great).

I've found this concept useful when thinking about the types of toys my daughter will play with most.


My LO does a lot of "enveloping/enclosure", so the next time I buy toys, I'm going to look for nesting dolls.


Bimbily and NotOnTheHighStreet (both online) both have some interesting toys.


I've not been in Just Williams in a while, but Gently Elephant on Brockley Road (near Brockley Station) has lots of interesting toys.

We asked our daughter what she would like for her birthday (3rd birthday too).... She wanted a lawnmower! So that's what she got, so cute watching her and hubby mowing the lawn, she follows him up and down!!

So maybe ask her what she would like.

I really appreciate your suggestions.

Saffron the info on play schemes was really interesting. Quite hard to pin point what they are but its a really good way of thinking about the way they play.


I was thinking about a dolls house, and she loves pretend play so I guess we'll be going down that route.


Sbot - love the lawnmower!! very sweet. I asked my daughter what she'd like and she said cake! I guess that's a start!

      Sounds like your neighbour is trying to bully you into  to be compliant and stay quiet.  You really don't have any choice but to contact Southwark regarding building alteration planning permission.  But also try to find your own surveyor asap.  It might cost you now.  But if you don't it could well really get expensive and cause issues with any potential selling in the future.  Don't feel bad about standing up for yourself and your future.....

      Thank you, he's pretty adamant a party wall agreement isn't needed so no chance of getting plans, he's been very cagey about what's being done. I've asked for the specific clause in the Party Wall Act that suggests he doesn't because I'm pretty worried. Is it just the chimney breasts that would fall under the act? He's insisting the others don't count as party walls.

      Thanks  for the reminder nellie. Have today received two letters dated February 2024. Heading down to Highshore Road tomorrow to see if there's anything for us. I'm getting obsessive about missing/late arriving bills since having our phone and broadband cut off when we hadn't received (so hadn't paid) a bill from BT that had been posted to us. I now keep a note in my diary of when the various utility bills are expected, and phoning them when I think something is due, invariably they say the bill has been sent out. It shouldn't be so hard.
