The BBC report says the owner was due in at Snaresbrook Crown Court on the 6 January.  Has anyone seen any reports regarding that?

Might it be more respectful to refrain from asking this on a local forum which his family are on as if it's merely akin to casually asking if anyone has heard what's happening with the empty shop space next to Oliver Bonas or if anyone knows which dentists are taking on new patients? Christ. Google it if you're that interested. They are a real family and this isn't a Reddit discussion on a true crime documentary. Extraordinary

Azalea is very well meaning and has offered support throughout since the fundraiser was set up for the family, so please don't be too harsh.

We are all obviously keen to ensure the family are protected from debate but this is simply people conversing and I am positive Azalea meant nothing disrespectful by her post; I think simply in disbelief that such a tragedy could happen after the dog in question seems to have attacked a school child a month prior.

Anyway as you say, not for discussion here really. Can't comprehend how the family must feel. Hopefully our gesture of fundraiser will enable them to give something to his children and/or do something charitable in his name, which is a strong belief in Islam/ Muslim faith...

Isn't it up to admin what is appropriate to discuss on here?

Of course it's not akin to casually asking about an empty shop space. It is a terrible incident which is clearly of local interest, and the fact that people are sympathetic is clearly demonstrated by the response to Jellybeanz' kind gesture.

Where have you seen anything suggesting anyone is treating it like a discussion on a true crime documentary?

Why is it inappropriate to be asking about the court case?

If you don't innately know from a human perspective  why it's not tasteful to ask 'what's the latest on the court case??' then I can't really explain it I guess. I suspect the family are finding the concept of the circumstances being hashed out in court and the papers quite distressing so although I'm sure they are touched by the support and outpouring of affection for Akif I don't think they want the private details to be a 'matter of local interest.'

If people are desperate to keep up to date with the court case they can google it. It doesn't need to be discussed on a local forum. Just a bit of basic decorum and sensitivity really.

Perhaps you know more than I do then.

ETA: I expect everyone who read your post has googled the case  now. I did.

I don't normally  read the local papers.

And if the details of the court case are in the public domain, and will be in the papers when the case actually comes to be heard, it is going to be rather hard to keep them "private", I would have thought.

Obviously I have every sympathy for the family, regardless of the circumstances.

You raise an interesting point, and I'd be interested to know what others (and admin's) views are on this.

    • I'd like to add to these recommendations for Fernando's work... After reading all the positive reviews in this forum, we asked Fernando to help clear some overgrown areas in our garden. He did a great job - our garden is so much tidier than before and with his knowledge of plants he could prune them better than I would have done, so they will grow back healthier and in a good shape.  I'm very happy with his work - our home looks more well-cared for, and it was nice to meet Fernando too - as others have commented he is very kind and polite. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for gardening jobs.
    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
