Perhaps not the sort of weather outside which makes you look forward to a leisure bike ride. But maybe it will get better

Ride for Dec 14th.  Cutty Sark to Lesnes Abbey. < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cutty-sark-to-lesnes-abbey-cycle-ride-tickets-1105686270399  > Just one ride organised at present. This will be an extended version of the recent Thamesmead Murals ride, reprising the murals and continuing to Lesnes Abbey. 10am start from Cutty Sark Gardens, next to the Foot Tunnel entrance.  Returning 1.30pm. Ride through the Royal College site onto the Thames Path, pass the O2 and the riverside artwork and on to the Thames Barrier. Then link with Green Chain path and after viewing some of the murals will continue to Lesnes Abbey for our coffee break. Return to Cutty Sark via the Ridgeway and Thames Path. Ride leader again Mike K. Report from previous Murals ride at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2024/ride-reports-nov-30th-2024/.

Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe. If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. This ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

    • Most women are killed by someone they know, not a stranger. However I think all women moderate their behaviour when on their own, walking at night especially as they fear danger. Two interesting articles https://www.statista.com/statistics/288298/female-victims-of-homicide-england-and-wales-by-relationship-to-offender/?srsltid=AfmBOoqZ9-CIEJWe9kesKy2G_KWxjXPh-tXMRsLvKim0M6mS00dksiKH https://www.theguardian.com/education/2025/sep/23/majority-of-girls-and-young-women-in-uk-alter-behaviour-to-feel-safe-study-finds?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other   Other crimes https://crimerate.co.uk/london personally I always go for the most crowded train carriage late evening and I carry my keys in my hand when walking from the train station…. It’s that fear of violence that is scary …
    • What ever they decide I would have thought that the skate park would not be staying but really hope I am wrong as in my minds eye, I see the skate park as potential parking spaces after all if it is going to be community, flats, retail units, cafe, etc folks are going to want to have the parking availability - Amir like the parade of shops opposite. if the skate park goes then I think it is Dulwich Estate obligation to find another suitable area… a lot of community spirit and hard work went into developing the skate park and the youngsters should be very proud of what they have done  and achieved.
    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
