Nicole and I are cycling 50 miles to raise money for a great cause. Our target is ?500, we have recieved ?20 pounds to date...

INFO ON THE CAUSE:

So this years funds will be going towards creating a sensory outdoor classroom for George's classmates at the Thomas Wolsey School. ?George?s Garden? will allow wheelchair access directly outside from the classroom, shelter from wind and rain, and many sensory elements to provide stimulation and pleasure for children with complex disabilities.

George's classmates experience the world almost entirely through sensations - sound, touch, smell. Because of their physical disabilities their lives are very restricted and just getting the class out of the classroom and onto the field or playground can be a major undertaking, so much of their day is spent indoors.

The architect's final estimate for the work is around ?20-25,000 and staff, pupils, family and friends are now working very hard to try and raise the much needed funding for this project.

Sadly, George lost his battle lasrt year.... two weeks after our last fundraising event. He was 9 years old. Year after year we will continue to raise money to help children like George, To help those who supported him and to give them the best lives possible.

I'd like to give back to those who support us. All those who donate, please PM me and you will be entered into a prize draw. The prise will be a family portrait session worth ?350 shot by me. Liam bergin (liambergin.com)

Donate what you can afford but I would request a minimun donation of ?2.00

Thank you for taking the time to read this thread. Hopefully we can reach our target.

That's a generous raffle prize! Can very satisfied clients enter? As ever, happy to recommend Liam's work, we booked him for our wedding after seeing his work from a friend's weddings. We've had so many compliments on our wedding pics and they are definitely of our day, not the same old shots.

Thanks Abster!!

YES you can! ;) for a small fee to the cause cough cough... Thank you for the kind words. It really is a good cause.

Last year Georges mother organised a ball and I provided a photobooth for them. We raised just under 350 and collectively, we raised about 7000 through donations. It was amazing! So many generious donations to the cause. It was just so sad that George passed only a few weeks later but his memory lives on and this garden will mean so much to so many.

Thank you again.

    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may  be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
