I have a delivery from Staples, ordered 2 December, and I still haven't got it.

It was supposed to come on Friday, but apparently the UPS van broke down. Ok that couldn't be helped, but annoying because I needed the delivery (a box of premium paper to print flyers).

So then it was scheduled to come by end of day yesterday. No sign. Then scheduled to come end of day today. According to the tracking it's still at Dartford and not even out for delivery yet, so I'm not holding my breath.

This is even worse than Royal Mail 🤬

Yep, had a similar problem with a return package from EU being delivered, after many phone calls and eventually speaking to the depot, I got it sorted. shan't ever use them again after the experience.

Yeh. I've now had yet another change on the tracking, and now  they can't even give me a delivery date.

It's appalling. I don't know why Staples use them. I ordered from Staples because the paper I use is cheapest from them, and to be fair I had no issues last time with the delivery and Staples customer service is very good, but this is really annoying me.

Yet another phone call to Staples in the morning.

UPS have very mixed reviews on Trust Pilot, with  a lot of recent one stars (and about to get another one, but I'll wait till I actually get the paper .. )

DPD are just as bad. Twice they failed to come and pick up my parcel, and both times the website said they'd been and gone despite me knowing they hadn't because I was standing outside my home within the hour window they provided and I was live tracking the van location.

The message on the website went from "We'll be there in 15 minutes", to "There was no parcel to collect", while I was waiting outside the door! No DPD van in sight. Twice in 2 weeks.

another curved ball to deal with, annoying yes, but not shattering.

Obviously not shattering compared to many life problems, but relatively minor annoyances add up to become a horrible background buzz to life

I've just phoned and cancelled the order. Getting a refund. I'll get it from somewhere else. 🤬

Oh, that is annoying.

What has DPD got to say about it?

I've had recent UPS deliveries from India & Sweden which have been delivered with no problems and in a very timely manner. I suspect problems may be more evident on internal (to UK) movements, I've nothing to complain about with their international service.

Mine was to do with them changing delivery depots from Croydon to Dartford, couldn't work that one out.

Re: DPD, mysteriously the booking price increases compared to their original quote, found it cheaper and just as quick with Parcelforce.

Last year I ordered a coffee grinder as a Christmas present, to be sent to a friend in a Greece. The order was made in mid-November. Unfortunately, the retailer sent it by UPS. There started a grindingly frustrating two months of being caught in the Möbius Loop of UPS bureaucracy and incompetence. They kept claiming that the address couldn’t be found and despite having two telephone numbers, not once did they phone the recipient. Then I changed the delivery to an estate agent’s office in the nearby main village, situated on the main street with clear address, telephone numbers  and signs. Again, they claimed not to be able to find the address, which was farcical. Yet again, they made no attempt to phone to check. Eventually, the parcel was delivered at the end of January and yes, a vital part was broken. It was clear that the parcel was lying around in a depot and was chucked in a corner to be covered with other boxes and packets. When I tried to claim the cost of replacing the broken part, they indulged in the sort of passive aggressive stalling that corporate behemoths like them are so good at. Eventually I gave up and took the spare part with me when visiting. I have to say that they are the worst company I’ve ever dealt with, along with Scottish Power. I wouldn’t trust them to deliver anything and make sure I tell anyone who wants to listen that they should avoid them like the plague!

After I contacted them via online chat the assistant said, "Sorry I don't know what happened", basically. She offered to rebook the pickup but I said there was no time to try a third time. I got a refund and sent my parcel through the post office instead.

    • Hi everyone! My partner and I are getting married in France the last week of August, and we’re hoping to drive a van over for the trip. Unfortunately, the big rental companies are proving tricky when it comes to taking vehicles out of the country. We were wondering if anyone here , or someone you know , rents out a van (or knows of any local companies) that would allow travel to France. We’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations. Thank you so much in advance!

    • Hi Andrea, thank you SO much for your review and recommendation. It was, indeed, a bit of a nightmare of a transaction but I am delighted we got there in the end before the various mortgage offers ran out. I hope you are enjoying your new home. Also, thank you Sue for the clarification!
