Forest Hill Road Group Practice, Patient Participation Group (PPG), Next Meeting, 6:30pm, Thursday 23rd January 2025

Recommended Posts

Then if you hate it so much move to another surgery rather than slag it off here.  They have been fine with me, not perfect but fine.  You started this thread by asking a number of questions for a PPG meeting, which is reasonable, but now you have gone in with both barrels loaded.  Are most of your posts angry ones?  That is a serious question.

I've also spoken when at the surgery to one of the patients committee to present a slightly more positive view.  More on that discussion for another time/thread

I've given an honest opinion based on my own personal experience their. The practice I'm with have done more in the last 6 months than FHRGP ever did over while I was with them (for an almighty long time) and in particular over the last 9yrs. That's a fact.

And yes I will slate them, I'd slate certain staff members of staff by name but that's libellous.

This is the first you've told us that you left them, at least six months ago.  Did you go to the 23 January PPG meeting yourself?   If so what happened  there?

I know I keep harping on about this, but I genuinely can't understand why people stay with a GP practice they aren't happy with, when it's so easy to move elsewhere.

By all means give them chances  to improve, but OVER NINE YEARS?!

And not even going to meetings where you might have a chance to get things changed?

I've moved twice. Your old practice doesn't even need to know you are moving, the new one does it all.

Have you seen the staff they have now? If not,  I urge you to take a look , it is terrifying that these people are the gateway to health. They are Scrolling through their phones and ignoring the queue. It is on purpose . I have no other words .

Have you complained? Are the GPs aware? Are you sure that what they are doing on their phones is not work related?

Who is responsible for employing these people does anyone know ?

I wonder if that person hates the people of East Dulwich.

Personal animosities overcome professionalism every time.
Just my thoughts

With some of the attitudes expressed here I expect they hide when you walk into the surgery. They see me and rush to attend as I smile and thank them.  Please please please register with another surgery and then you can start a new thread saying how awful they are.

Also with added attitude !

No Sue I’d prob be accused of being racist. I came here to vent.

If you have evidence that people are not doing their jobs, how could you be accused of "being racist"?

What on earth is the point of venting on here?

Why don't you just register with another practice?

Last time I went, they’d  built a kind of a wall /shield effort which covered up the back room of people sitting at their desks while the queue got longer and longer.

But maybe the people sitting at their desks had other job related things to do apart from speaking to the people in the queue?

At The Gardens, a lot of what presumably used to be done face to face is now done online or on the phone.

Why would they hide malumbu? I don’t have an attitude, but their reception staff do. I still smiled and thanked . Go and experience it.

Sue , because that’s how it works . I wasn’t there for myself, someone else.
Venting on here helps me, however I’m under no obligation to make any sense to you.

You sound deluded about staff sitting around  doing job related things , have you had your Covid jabs?

Now as an ex patient my impression was that their is a general lack of accountability  or responsibility by the staff at FHRGP and heaven forbid you should disagree with them, "not allowed". They want total control with no scrutiny. How that practice survives, I really don't know.

That being said, two or three of the staff are excellent.

I'm happy not seeing a GP face to face.  I had WhatsApp video appointments a couple of years ago, which ended up with me being rightly sent to Tommies A and E.  I see nurses from time to time at TJ, I always have a good laugh with both them and the blood test people.  I see the practice nurse at FH from time to time and it feels like visiting an old friend.

I'm not sure whether social media has made us a more negative nation, or it just feels this way due to some of you who post on this forum.  The majority of posts in ED matters and on the transport thread are complaints

How would you define lazy and useless?  There is a spectrum of productivity, and of customer service.  Some excel at one or both, but I'm not sure at what point workers drop below an acceptable level.

When I am unhappy I will complain to an organisation. Some respond better than others.  One of my first posts over a decade was to complain about a local shop.  It's a funny anecdote which is essentially a "Ok you don't want my money so I'll go and spend many 100s of pounds at a different company" but I regret not dealing directly with the shop rather than getting pointless revenge many years later.  Still won't use the shop though.

Relatively recently, they employed a couple of young people on front desk work they were excellent. I don’t know if they’re still there.
And yes, they may be doing something on their computers that’s important but when you see  people queuing and no one appearing for many minutes the system seems inefficient.  Some simple changes could make a big difference.  But those changes would have to come from management rather than individual workers choosing to jump up and help.

"Sitting around doing job related things".

Do you mean sitting and doing their jobs?

"have you had your COVID jabs?"

Perhaps instead of spending your time on here insulting other posters, in this case me, you would be more effectively employed contacting the practice management with a detailed description of exactly what you say you saw and when.

And then see what they say.

You have made a lot of assumptions with presumably absolutely no idea what those people's jobs are or when their break times are.

I am not defending the practice, which seems to have some problems

I just don't like seeing people who aren't here to defend themselves being publicly attacked by someone who apparently doesn't actually know what those people were doing and why.

I've been with the practice for probably 30 years or more. This week I sent a request to be seen by someone via the app and within 10 minutes I got a text message saying a doc would call me in the next hour. I received the call and have a face to face appointment on Tuesday. I consider that to be a very good service.

    • Another recommendation for Dulwich Test and Services Centre. Only been using them for a couple of years but wish I’d found them earlier
    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
