Sue
Is there any way of soundproofing a single glazed sash window? Would polythene sheeting work? If I replaced the window, I would have triple glazing, but it's a small room used as an office which I'm not in all that often, so I really don't want to go to that expense. Sue
If nobody on here knows, I will ask at a DIY shop. I already googled, but most of the solutions aren't feasible for me, I don't think. ydrmdy
What about thick, clear perspex, cut to size and fitted with screws, so it can be easily removed in the summer.? https://www.perspexsheet.uk/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAv628BhC2ARIsAIJIiK-NNa1aggvPZr2v2StN21vG2nR57yofLO2Va5A7qBoZNoLtBfokYGoaAk74EALw_wcB 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356502-soundproofing-a-single-glazed-window/#findComment-1694294 Share on other sites
IlonaM
Or you could fit them with A+B magnetic strips. I have diy secondary glazing for heat insulation rather than noise and fitted them with magnetic A+B strips. Also, if you'd like a less DIY job, on googling I found this kind of business with info on options: https://www.secondarydiyglazing.com/secondary-glazing-systems/ 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356502-soundproofing-a-single-glazed-window/#findComment-1694297 Share on other sites
Kipper_1972
leave the window alone and put in some "secondary glazing" For sound proofing, you need as big an air gap as you can muster (in this image they should have used the whole windowsill) if you try your own DIY screen (with perspex & wood) you must seal it as far away from the window as you can and add baffles round the perimeter inside (eg. egg cartons) (or other sound proofing materials are availble online). The air gap is your baffle (buffer). Cheaper than replacing the window. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356502-soundproofing-a-single-glazed-window/#findComment-1694308 Share on other sites
