I think Trinco might have everything you need on one level, including delicious vegetarian food and toilets. Little bit confusing because the location is known as Oru, but the restaurant is called Trinco. At least I think that's right! I tried to untangle my own confusion in this review here. Have been to Blue Brick several times over the years and I have never found them open in the evening.

Looked at Suzanne in the past and she is quite expensive, but if planning a wedding or similar - she is reasonable compared with other caterers.

Where is Trinco?     I doubt that the children would like Vietnamese food  although they do like curry and things like chilli con carne,

We only have a family meal once or twice a year - this year it is to celebrate a 40th , 53rd,  and 27th birthday- we are both pensioners so we need to keep an eye on prices.  I have in the past cooked for 12 people but it is a tight squash getting everybody in especially as the grandchildren have got older.

Trinco is on the Lordship Lane section between Goose Green roundabout and East Dulwich Grove turn off so the bottom of LL.

Trinco is at 20 Lordship Lane, near Goose Green. The building is called Oru Space although I did notice the other day that there is a small neon sign that says Trinco outside though easy to miss. Good for Sri Lankan vegetarian curries, not good if you are after chicken tikka masala-style food that all the other curry restaurants in Lordship Lane serve (edit - sorry Moovart, I've just seen you've also answered this!).

Would have thought Oru/ Trinco would be noisy… certainly is at mid afternoon.

Do let us know when you have been what is was like and where you finally settled on.sure we are all interested  as your requirements are quite specific and good to know or have reviews on places, especially from you with different needs and requirements.

Actually, given the numbers involved and as you say a special occasion, assuming £20/30  head, you really should have a chat with Suzanne. Maybe your kids could chip in a bit more as they are working.. You could always provide a cake yourself for after.

Her food is special and well cooked.. know what you are getting..! 
 

Italian place is also good as well and would cater for your needs except of  course the toilet aspect which is a steep climb down stairs… even I struggle.

Yes, , know you are not a fan of Vietnamese place after tea incident… Owner now does all the cooking and so nice and accommodating but you won’t go there.. Wish she got more support… had a bereavement recently…

The whole point of a family meal is for us to celebrate the families birthdays and we have traditionally paid. Both daughters only work part time and have mortgages etc.  The food was good at the Vietnamese [lace but was spoilt by the overcharging of beverages.

The 2 veggies usually share each other's food!  £30 per head is way too much especially given the children do not eat much. When you do a booking at £x per head that usually covers all adults and children and only toddlers sharing parents food go 'free'

Would downstairs at  the EDT work?

It is very noisy at weekends, but  quiet on some weekdays (though sometimes there are mum and baby gatherings!), the back room is nice and the food is ok and reasonably priced.

I'm not sure about disabled toilets, you would need to check that out, but there are men's and women's toilets on the ground floor.

Or The Palmerston or The Lordship, though I think their food is more expensive and the space isn't so nice as the EDT (in my opinion).

I'm assuming in each place you can just have tea, coffee or soft drinks.

You would have to ask about the specific food requirements, but surely these days most if not all places serving meals cater for things like vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free/dairy free needs? 

Or, Franco Manca (pizzas) do vegan aka dairy free  cheese options I think (one of my grandchildren is dairy free, but I can't now remember if we had to take our own cheese in for her when she was little - a long time ago! Haven't eaten there for years, so I don't know what it's like now).

Or, can't remember if it has been mentioned already, but possibly the Italian place near the bus stop - Due Fratelli??  - though it's not particularly cheap, there aren't a lot of vegetarian options in the pasta range (though the ravioli was tasty) and I can't remember if the toilets are on the ground floor or downstairs, or if there is a disabled toilet.

Have been to both pubs in the evenings - whilst fine if there is only a couple of you but  quickly gets full up and noisy. It will be a Friday evening - the only time everyone can make it due to work commitments.  We went to Maria's Tortillas next to the Picture House last time and the food there was great for everyone, although we did not have the 10 and 12 year olds with us that time. I am hoping that the Persian restaurant  opposite Grove Tavern will be opening in the next 3 weeks as this would be ideal.  I tend to stick to fish, chicken and veggie meals.

New thought for you… since people have recommended the Chinese place in Uplands Road, no idea whether it would accommodate all of you, why don’t you pop in, chat to th em and see as a one off whether they would stay  open?  Prob going to now say, your tribe don’t eat Chinese as you have already mentioned not all eat Vietnamese… 

My comment about £20/30 per head was including two/ three courses… now a days a main course is around £15.00… 

Hope Persian is open…more for your sake!
