That's too exciting!!!

Yes, Persepolis definitely coming to SE22, we ate in the legendary Peckham branch last week and the Lordship Lane offshoot was confirmed. It will be called Simorgh. Doubt if the new one will have a roof terrace overlooking the Job Centre though! Review of the quirky original here. https://open.substack.com/pub/eatsdulwich/p/restaurant-review-persepolis?r=8oe6m&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

Hi guys could anyone recommend some good pasta places on LL or any surrounding areas? Thanks

We enjoyed ravioli at Due Fratelli (near the bus stop on Lordship Lane  which TFL for some reason calls Goose Green) the other evening.

Though they seem to have more pizza options than pasta, and not many pasta options for vegetarians (though obviously that won't worry you if you aren't a vegetarian!)

I'm confused, sorry.

Do you mean it's staying the same but just changing its name?

It’s clearly shut, with all the branding stripped from the tiled facade but the emails I’ve got when signing up for notifications are still, ultimately, coming from Megan’s.

From the post above this seems to be a re-design to support a new(er) trading concept for this particular Megan's - there is nothing that I can find about either issues with Megan's stores in general closing or Megan in general being re-branded. Maybe removing (and presumably eventually replacing) the store name is part of any necessary work. What about the outlet in Dulwich? Has anyone who uses this heard anything about the sister store in ED?

There are others in North London that have disappeared and reappeared as Ollie’s. Is it the same company? I don’t know.

'Ollies' ick 🙄!

Such a kind of psudo matey middle class branding..Is 'Ollie' Megan's estranged husband?

Theres a lot of money being thrown at these shopfits then having them completely ripped out and refurbed after a few years just seems a bit desprate and wasteful.

This is why I support independent buisnesses.

Sounds, and looks, more like an errant and indulged teenage son who backpacked through south east Asia and visited Jim Thompson's house.

Probably came home with dreads, piercings and a Thai script tattoo that he was told represented 'One Love', but actually spells out 'I Am A Massive Farang Twat'.

The latter is quite a common thing.

They really should have added 'Fuckwittery is Ollie's House'. 'Ollie is a fuckwit'

If anyone wants decent south east Asian food, please try Chern on Grove Vale. Pau has worked really hard to make that place work, it's genuinely good, and she is lovely.

Grab some wine, beer or pre-mixed cocktails from a local shop (I'm not sure what she's doing with corkage at the moment, but I'm sure she'll sort you out) and a cake from somewhere and have your own fusion night.

Chern now sells alcohol including wine,  and has Thai beer (Singha)  on draft.

And yes Chern is lovely and really good value!

Urgh. All we need now is for them to call it 'Ollie's on the Lordship' and satire is officially dead.

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.

    • I would recommend the Dulwich Test and Service centre that used to be in Hindemanns road and then moved to the little Trading Estate off Tyrrel Road. I've used them very happily for nearly 40 years. Paul and Reg Shires.
