Hi my name is Sarah.

I have been a teacher in a variety of schools in my 15 year career in Education. At university, I did a Bachelor's Degree in Education while teacher training experience across KS1 and KS2. I started my career in a state school in Penge, working with all year groups in KS2 and working towards SATs in Year 6.

Next, I moved to an international school in Amman, Jordan where I continued working with different year groups in KS2. The learning was focused around enquiry based curriculum with an IB focus, offering me further experience and depth of understanding across many subjects.

Upon returning to the UK in 2017, I began teaching in another state school in London in Year 5 and 6, working with a diverse range of students with a variety of needs. Using a variety of strategies and techniques to help pupils who have dyscalculia, dyslexia, ASD or ADHD, so they can find their strengths and manage challenges.

After this school, I was appointed Head of Reasoning in a top London Prep school in Notting Hill Gate, where I worked predominantly in Year 5 and 6. My knowledge of the 11+ process, testing and secondary school requirements is excellent and I have seen many pupils go to a range of schools such as City of London, St Paul’s, Latimer and Godolphin etc. I also have experience of the requirements of scholarships.

I have a wide knowledge of different schools, so I can cater my tutoring to meet the objectives for pupils in KS2 and starting KS3. My main approach to one to one tutoring is to have a clear meeting and understanding of what we want to achieve, what are the main struggles and strengths. Setting objectives and goals and measuring those as we continue to work together while offering regular updates and communication. I love to break barriers in learning to ensure success. I use a variety of teaching methods to ensure understanding, breaking down problems, assessing how to pick and use the right skills.

I am highly organised and have excellent time management. I have excellent knowledge of the requirements of SATs and the 11+ in Maths, English, Science and Reasoning. I use a range of resources and I am happy to help parents/ carers find the right resources for extra study. In my current school I am Head of Reasoning and a maths specialist, teaching a vast range of abilities to reach their potential. As a teacher, I can offer advice or queries for parents about school reports, secondary school applications and general understanding of schools.

I offer online and home tutoring lessons at £50 an hour

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!

    • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
