PeckhamRose
At the entrances to Peckham Rye Park are lots of notices telling people that they are not allowed to have BBQs, but sure enough today I saw a couple with a BBQ and the fire had to be less than 12 inches from a whole large area of one of the many cut long dry grass sections.I approached and politely asked them to put the fire out, explaining that there were notices that it was not allowed but the reason being that it was dangerous. To be fair they put it out. I feared an argument or "What the hell has it got to do with you?" argument. Be brave! But where is the common sense these days! (And other comments making me sound one hundred and twenty years old.)
