But I pointed out that they are not even working 5 days a week 9 - 5. That's standard pay, they can't be paid less! If they were just employed for continuous working weeks the jobs would be completed faster. And there is a real cost to the economy as a whole when traffic is disrupted unnecessarily long.

Amended to say - I do understand that blockages may continue when no work is being undertaken when, for instance, tarmac is being allowed to set - although I also note that once it's rolled traffic is often allowed on to it quite quickly. Concrete will take longer. But the work-free delays are rarely of this nature.

These works do appear to take a long time and have extended periods of inactivity. That said, I don't think we can say why there are periods of inactivity - it may well be that things needs to settle / set, or whatever, and that they move people onto other works whilst that's happening. Who knows? I can't imagine it's in anyone's interests to extend these things out any longer than necessary.

I think a lot of it is that nothing seems to work anymore, nothing is joined up and since Covid planning and delivery just arent lining up. Has anyone had anything close to the level of customer service big companies used to give before Covid...it's almost as if they don't care anymore and I can imagine in utilities with items being shipped from around the world that it is utter chaos.

I hadn't been to that part of Dulwich for a while and it is really bad.

This CCTV sign has appeared on junction of Peckham rye and kinsale road. Surely you can’t start fining people without a local consultation ? And who would be doing it? The gas board? Southwark? I live in the in the road that connects to the road it refers to , and drive through as I have done for 20 years.

    • "church parade" ? lol! religion is for the lesser minded folk. Most countries worldwide has a flag that represents them and is proudly flown, no harm it that surely? it does represent our patriotism, don't confuse it with separatism, my friends and mixed race family are angry the way the left wing media are destroying mergence.
    • Why?  What difference would it make.  We simply aren't a flag flying country apart from special occasions, church parade and the like. It makes no difference to our patriotism.
    • Would be nice to fly the English flag on all English Council and Government buildings in actual England for gods sake! and if the respectful invited newcomers in recent decades assimilated to our well established society, how nice would that be now? happy families and a prosperous exciting friendly future together. You know it makes sense!. 😉
