We're are just about to get ready for sale, a 2 bed flat, very close to Peckham Rye park.  It has been rented out for sometime, so is in need of some TLC for it to look its best, before it goes on the market.

Would be interested to know others thoughts on whether its best to just have the place painted completely white throughout, probably with new grey flooring, or if it might be more appealing to add some colour/interest (nothing too drastic), perhaps something alittle 'warmer', with some nice (potentially dark) feature walls maybe?

Wondered whether the days of going completely white might now have passed .....

It might be useful to know that its not a period or conversion property, but rather a flat in a private purpose built block.

Blank canvas is best, people have all sorts of ideas/furniture/vision boards to get on with.

Clean. Crisp. Neutral. If anything, dressing with freshly baked bread, and flowers makes subtle difference.

Leave it white then new people can paint to their taste - that is why in show properties, they are white throughout or neutral. Def no feature wall.

Might consider a lump sum for flooring as opposed to going grey.

Ideally no curtains at all but if you wish then maybe blinds in lounge and bedroom.

Speak to the Estate Agents, expect most will say get it on the market rather than spend money which may well be wasted when the next owner changes things.

Get a couple of friends round and ask them honestly what rough or unfinished things come to their attention.  Weeds in the front. Door that doesn't close properly.  Arrangements in the kitchen.  Whatever!  There may be minor things that can put people off.  Clean your windows!

    • Went to a fireworks display maybe 20 years ago at the Crystal Palace, it wasn't bonfire night, can't remember why it was being held, Capital Radio were there. There were people hanging from a crane, classical music, and quiet fireworks,  It was lovely, still dramatic with the colours but no loud bangs. Not sure why this hasn't become the norm.
    • Hi  After a surprising split I find myself trying to furnish a home. If you gave anything that you don't want that may help I'd be so so so grateful if you could let me know please.  Thank you so much

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
