Spartacus
The deal with America is currently being announced Is it a good one for us or have we been sold a pigs ear as a silk purse ? Personally as it involves Beef bring imported to the UK, I don't believe its in the public interest. Interested to see others reaction 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/361278-us-uk-trade-deal/ Share on other sites
jazzer
Trump changes his mind as often as the clock ticks. The man is an egotistical buffoon, similar in ways to Starmer, another egotistical, do as I say, not as I do, wedged to the hilt hypocrite who still thinks he's Head of the DPP not the first minister. Certainly don't want beef from the US, it'll hurt our own beef production farmers, revered around the world as the very best with the quality of British and especially prime Angus Scotch Beef. Just don't export to the US and only import from there what is essentially necessary. Oh, wait a second...... Now I get that you aren't a fan of Starmer but I am gobsmacked you compare him to Trump. Now Faradge and Trump. That's a different subject. Yep, you're correct, don't care for Trump or Starmer or Farage, all nasty, self serving, over entitled, wedged to the hilt wannabe politicians, who are a disaster for their respective countries, populations and the world as a whole. You can add Putin to that list as well. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/361278-us-uk-trade-deal/#findComment-1706127 Share on other sites
Sephiroth
But who do you like to admire jazzer? This country or any other country? anyone? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/361278-us-uk-trade-deal/#findComment-1706129 Share on other sites
jazzer
It's not who I admire, it's who's best to turn this country around and solve the multitude of problems the population experiences on a daily basis. People's pockets are only so deep and can only afford so much before they eventually have to rely on the State and that costs even more. The Cost of living spiralling, although inflation is apparently falling, right, yeah, NOT. Taxed to the hilt, wages/pensions not rising sufficiently to keep up, resulting in unemployment increasing, businesses not able to afford to keep or take on staff. It's a rollercoaster that is hard if not impossible to stop. Sephiroth
So you prefer to just complain and moan ad nauseum without ever being able to point to a better path? as a country we are not taxed to the hilt. Not historically in this country or by comparing to other countries. where are you getting inflation is falling from - it’s been a bit up and down for a while but not really trending downward. But even if it was, real world prices lag behind - but it’s not universal - so things like rent could continue to spiral Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/361278-us-uk-trade-deal/#findComment-1706137 Share on other sites

Sue
50 minutes ago, alice said: I would pronounce it to rhyme with garage. But only the first g in garage is a "hard" g? The second one is a "soft" g whether you pronounce it "j" or (not sure how to write it, but even softer, like a cross between "sh" and "j"?) So surely Malumbu's hard g in Farage would be like the first g in garage, not the second one? I can't believe I am wasting my time writing this irrelevant drivel 🤣 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/361278-us-uk-trade-deal/#findComment-1706151 Share on other sites

Tax - yes we are taxed to the hilt, the threshold is £12570, Govts not increasing this means more and more people get dragged into paying tax. HMRC are a joke, even if you're below that figure they take tax that has to be claimed back as its wrongly deducted. Inflation is supposedly dropping, the reality in the shops is the total opposite, week on week almost, prices increase, utilities increase etc. I don't want to live under a left wing govt, if you do, suggest you try living in Russia. Sephiroth
If you want to talk about tax you have to contextualise it - this is not a highly taxed country but it is a country that needs money - so what do you propose? if you dk t want to live under a left wing govt that’s your choice but how do we get from left wing govt to Russia? you make no sense 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/361278-us-uk-trade-deal/#findComment-1706154 Share on other sites
