Just wanted to say how great it is to see so many people talking about local issues here. It really shows how passionate and engaged the community is. I moved to East Dulwich a couple of years ago and have loved seeing the area evolve. The local businesses are fantastic and it’s always nice to run into familiar faces when out and about. That being said, I think we could definitely use more green spaces for everyone to enjoy. It would be great to see more events or gatherings where neighbours can meet up and make the most of what we have. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this.

East Dulwich is very well served for green spaces although that doesn't preclude the creation of more.  Just wonder where the land would come from to create new green spaces - the priority for any available land would be for housing.

I have been involved with our local Residents' Association and also the East Dulwich Community Centre since the early 1980s. Both organisations initially had good attendance and representation from the local community but over the past few years so called 'community minded people' are more interested in social media/WhatsApp Groups and discussing things on line rather than meeting in person. The EDF is a very good source of local knowledge and I use it frequently for various reasons but it is no substitute for person to person engagement. I also help out at an over 55 age group which meets weekly for 2 hours and it is noticeable that the majority of attendees are those who frequently use social media sites, but have come to the conclusion that face to face contact is essential for their well being.

There are organisations in ED which put on social events, most are family friendly. for free or low cost where neighbours/friends can meet up - you do not need additional green spaces for this to happen.
