Apparently they are doing some engineering work on Freeview at the moment including Crystal Palace, so this might be why . Advice is not to rescan, but to wait.

Yes probably rescan.

If that doesn't work unplug telly, leave a minute, then turn it on.  Whilst plugged in, there must be a miniscule current going in.  This reboots it.

You can factory reset it, worse case, going through menu, and then scan and reset at worst case.

Reboot if rescanning doesn't work

"Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Crystal Palace (Greater London, England) mast?

"Crystal Palace transmitter - Crystal Palace transmitter: Possible effect on TV reception week commencing 12/05/2025 Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels"

says https://ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/Crystal_Palace.

In which case I don't see any point in rescanning (not that it'll do any harm).

I've not noticed any signal degradation at all, TV or BBC radio, so it sounds as if it's probably intermittent.  Ah -  I did notice a couple of brief  R4 breaks yesterday, and assumed they were studio glitches.  I don't think either lasted more than a minute.

It's unnecessary to unplug the TV, just follow the retuning procedure, probably within Settings. Plus again NO NEED to do a factory reset.
