Antique Hans Holbein Framed Print of an Unknown Man £40

 
Text beneath reads: 'From the original drawing by Hans Holbein'
'Engraved by F. Bartolozzi R.A Historical Engraver to His Majesty'
'Published as the act directs Nov r 10 1793 by I. Chamberlain'
 
Size: Height 43 cms Width 35 cms
 
Beautifully rendered portrait.
Discolouration through the image at the top
A feint blue crown stamp visible at bottom left.
 
In lovely original frame probably Victorian.
Black detailed moulding with gold detail.
Some dents and nicks in frame but pretty good condition for age and all part of it's character.
Pinned wood backing.

    • Oh yes, it could have been about there, I can't remember exactly. At one point there seemed to be a load of pizza places opening on NCR. I vaguely remember the one we used to use was put out of business by another one which opened. Wasn't Grace and Favour's food offering more of a tea shop at the back of the actual shop? If memory serves the owner, whose name escapes me now, was one of the earliest people I know to move to Hastings. Which must now be crammed with South East Londoners 🤣
