MSN is an aggregator. Not a news source

the source is a Nick Gutteridge article in the Telegraph

so, closer to reform than BBC

(I would question BBC news reliability these days mind you)

It would be difficult to describe gutteridge as objective.  But it would be easy to claim he is frequently wrong, bordering on bonkers

There is no physical reality where, as we run out of fossil fuels and turn to whatever will replace them, where existing fossil fuels don’t become more expensive

not this country, not any country - you might see some short term ups and downs as politics plays its part - but to whine about your political enemies tackling the dwindling fossil fuels is both childish and playing with people’s lives

No, you didn’t write the article. But unless you’re a Telegraph subscriber, you haven’t read the article either. Have you read it?

The psychopath Telegraph lives behind a (rubber) paywall but using this kind of sensationalist, accusatory headline gets it traction on social media. The headline becomes more important than the article; many will see it and some will take it as a statement of fact. And it will be shown on endless “let’s take a look at the papers” segments on TV and radio for 12 hours or more in every news day.

And so, a tiny number of reactionary, right wing hacks has a vastly disproportionate influence on the popular conversation despite the papers they work for being bought by almost nobody these days.

The summary is that the taxes on electricity could be removed but an equivalent levy would then be added to gas to encourage people tonusevheat pumps.

Not convinced it would stay like that but it isn't quite as sensational as the headlines

"attack on the tax", I posted a link, how was that an attack?

I didn't write the article, so how was that an attack on the proposed tax?  Are you now saying what can and cannot be posted, when did you become Admin(NOT).

In posting the link, that you may or may not have read, did you have a view?  I don't believe you are neutral.

It's a sensationalist headline but misleading.  The heat pump sector is crying out for reduction in electricity costs and this is one way it could be achieved. Time would be better spent taking time to digest the article.

No, I didn't make a any comment, just posted a link.

Clearly posting a link without a comment is seen as an opportunity to pile in on the poster, thanks.

Do what I do and stick some of these folk on your ignore list.  It's great fun, they just rant away and you will be totally oblivious to it.

    • In my experience there is no fool proof solution to this with any company. Delivery drivers are people and people will make mistakes, cut corners, mis-understand instructions or simply not read them.  I've left instructions for parcels with just about every single company out there and at some point they've all screwed up.  I think the security camera is the best deterrent for thieves. In this case, my ring door bell spooked them off. I've just installed warning signs at my safe space to make it even clearer that they're being recorded. In the case that mistakes do still happen by the couriers, at least I know about it on the camera and can try to alert a neighbour if I'm not home.  Its sad that we have to turn our homes into fort knox with cameras but that's the world we live in.
    • Ultimately unacceptable behaviour at many schools of all types was exposed by Everyone Invited, not just at Dulwich College.
    • Come now, you have seen the constant threads concerning poor post and deliveries since the Dulwich office closed and merged with Peckham  Surly that alone tells you how it would compare to now as the whole system was way more efficient.  But despite the complaints and warnings here we are!!
    • Surely that would just make the system even more complicated?
