The Goose Is Out! Shanty & Sea Song Night with The HogEye Men, The Ivy House, Friday 27 June.

Recommended Posts

Shanty & Sea Song Night with The Hog Eye Men, The Ivy House 40 Stuart Road, Friday 27 June, 6.30pm.

Following the great success of our Shanty and Sea Song Night in aid of the RNLI (Lifeboats) last year (we raised over £2000) we have asked The fantastic HogEye Men back to headline another night - not a charity night this time.

This is what they say:

"The HogEye Men are London’s Premier (probably ) Sea Shanty Crew, with a huge repertoire of shanties and sea-songs. We sing them as they used to be sung; simply, boldly and loudly."

Well, we can't disagree with any of that, and we look forward to another great evening with lots of audience participation!

Support will be from local singers Chris Lamb, Creeping Jane, James Eagle, John Haseler, Tom Kelly and Trista Selous.

Creeping Jane are Nyge and Sue, who run The Goose Is Out! and Chris, James, John, Tom and Trista are all fine singers who come to our monthly Singarounds.

At The Ivy House, London’s first community-owned pub.

Tickets are £10 advance, £12 on the door (cash or BACS only)

Door 6.30pm. Live music starts 7.30pm and finishes 10.30pm.

This concert will be half seated, half standing, so come early if you want to be sure of a seat!

Please be aware that whilst our events are held in The Ivy House's beautiful Grade 2 listed ballroom, this is a pub, so there may be some background noise from adjoining bars. We and the pub management have done our best to minimise this, however as this is a listed building there are restrictions on what kinds of soundproofing can be done. We hope you understand.

    • Posted around 12 cards 2 weeks prior to 24th December. Had some responses so know people have received them. Had about 20 cards - mixture of hand delivered and via post. After years of 'nagging' by myself and our daughters, we may have cured hubby of spending £4 plus on individual cards for our immediate family  ( when you have 12 immediate family it costs a bomb) Also as the girls state, they get put in the recycling bad at beginning of January regardless of cost.
    • There was a LETS scheme in ED and it ran for a couple of years or so. Trying to remember when it was pre 2000?  A couple of friends joined it, one did baby sitting for exchange for ironing, the other did small painting jobs or simple gardening. There was a set criteria regarding credits,
    • Hi a bit tricky to run a train to Victoria from ED what way would it go on a new line 😂
    • @Sue I don't know if she took over the pub..it does'nt ring any bells but I'm in contact with her so I'll try and remember to ask.
