Anyone else experience a run of poor post services of late?

We keep getting notifications that the Postie couldn't access for delivery or that we requested a different date when that's not been the case.

Plus Lordship PO is set to only open 2 hours a day from July 10th? Are they bringing Royal Mail down from the inside?

The Post Office and Royal Mail are separate companies.

In my end of Underhill we are down to one postal delivery a week now, and have been for several months. More parcels of course, but they're better earners.

S24 9xx seems to down to approx two deliveries a week.  Been various times like this in the past 20 years-odd.

No why to flag up via the Royal Mail Website.  Is there anyway of getting anyone to do anything about this?!!

S24?

I just googled Royal Mail complaints and it went straight to this page.

If you phone Royal Mail you can also make a complaint, though it takes forever to go through all the options and then to speak to someone.

It's probably a lot quicker to do it online.

Not that you will actually get anywhere in this case.

You are probably marginally better off contacting your MP, not that they will probably get anywhere either.

Is anybody else finding that the Royal Mail app currently goes round in circles?

I am trying to rearrange a delivery date.

I sign in, rearrange the date, then it goes back to the sign in page without having changed the date.

Every time, I have to do it on the Royal Mail website rather than the app 🤬

We are not the only ones:

BBC News - Residents feel 'forgotten' after Royal Mail delays

Wow, that’s crazy

”Performance data shows 70% of first-class mail was delivered on time in Croydon and 71% in Sutton, well below the legal target of 93%.”

Sounds like they may have decided it’s better to pay the occasional fine than invest the money needed in improving the service.

I really don’t want to be a complainer, but mail is definitely no longer arriving in SE22.

Well, some of it is! I'm still getting some post.

I see my regular postie out and about quite frequently.

I imagine that on top of all the other issues, Royal Mail is now well into the summer leave period, so there must be fewer staff available to sort and deliver the post.

Though you might also think that that could mean more overtime opportunities for the ones not on leave.

Who knows.

Yesterday we received about 3 weeks worth of post. This included duplicate documents where we'd had to ask for another copy since the first copy never arrived, bank papers, my new driving licence and one mis-delivery.

We'd spent ages in the last few weeks either on the phone or convoluted websites trying to chase these things.

I'd rally like to co,plain but have a feeling I'd be wasting my time.

Miatta Fahnbulleh MP House Of Commons LONDON SW1A 0AA 185 Farringdon Road London EC1A 1AA www.royalmail.com Dear Ms Fahnbulleh Chadwick Road, LONDON SE15 4PY Thank you for your communication regarding mail deliveries to addresses on Chadwick Road. Delivering a reliable service is our top priority, and I am very sorry that your constituent has cause for concern. I am always disappointed when I hear that any of our customers do not feel that they are receiving the service that they ought to. Following your communication, I contacted the Customer Operations Manager at Peckham Delivery Office. They have advised me that there are no current issues with the delivery of mail to addresses on Chadwick Road. They have confirmed that mail deliveries are taking place six days a week, when there is mail available to be delivered, and I am assured that there is no mail currently awaiting delivery. If at any point a delivery round cannot be completed on a particular day, for example we may have a shortage of staff, the unit will ensure that the address will become the priority the following working day. I hope that this reply is helpful. As always if we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Yours sincerely Michael Hogg Senior Public Affairs Manager

This was the reply the MP sent me regarding lack of post.

"Senior Public Affairs Manager" 🤣🤣🤣

"Customer Operations Manager" 😂

Loving the job titles.

"Mail deliveries are taking place six days a week"

".... no mail currently awaiting delivery ..."

(could that be because it hasn't been sorted for delivery yet?)

They're taking on more and more custom previously carried out by firms such as DPD and EVRI and doing so efficiently. Yesterday I had a John Lewis parcel tracked and delivered by them. Part of me thinks it's a shrewd move on their part, without it they're not going to survive. They do need to get to grips with the ordinary mail though.

Are the parcel services organised by the local sorting office? We always notice parcels delivered by the vans are delivered on time but those that come via the postie can be unpredictable and we often get a "you were not in" when no-one even attempted delivery.

Going by tracking information they go via Croydon and East Dulwich (Peckham) sorting offices. Round my way, and I know it varies from street to street, delivery of tracked items brought by the regular postman is mostly reliable. I've noticed if there isn't a postman doing a regular round, there may be a walking postman just delivering the tracked items.

Agree.  They also send emails out saying when they’ve received it and on day of delivery say what time in a three hour gap to expect it.

I agree, delivery of tracked items is very reliable.

    • I've been using Homecert for all my electrical work at my flat in London for several years.  They have done small jobs like this one ( fitting a new security light to the patio) and big ones like fitting a new consumer unity, and also tricky ones like investigating and sorting out a problematic power circuit. They are extremely reliable and efficient and the work is always of a very high quality. Communications with the office are, in addition, excellent. Their work is economically reasonable and properly costed. I cannot see myself bothering with any other London electricians as long as Homecert exists
