We have 2 rides on 5th July, a fairly short local ride to Wimbledon Park and the already posted ride in Epping Forest that was cancelled in June due to poor weather.  Will detail the Wimbledon ride first, then give a reminder about the Epping ride second.
Eduardo leading a ride through 5 of our South London parks and commons. 15 miles. 10am –1pm. Start/finish Dulwich Clock Café, Dulwich Park SE21 7BQ. Route: Dulwich Park via Brockwell Park, Clapham Common, Wandsworth Common to Wimbledon Park. Return same route. Mostly quiet streets, occasional busy junction, lots of easily cycled paths in the parks and on the commons. Coffee stop in Wimbledon Park.  We have done this interesting ride several times, most recently in September last year, report here.

Reminder of second ride on July 5th. Just a few places left.
Owen seems determined to get us all out into the Essex countryside. Following his successful Essex Ramble last month (https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2025/ride-reports-3rd-may-2025/) he has devised another. We are heading to Epping Forest this time. A 27km (16 miles) circuit from Chingford to Epping and back. Farthest point on the ride will be at Epping Signalling Museum. Coffee stop will be at High Beech. Other places of interest we will stop at will be Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge and Connaught Water. The ride will start at 9.30am at Chingford Station (E4 6AL) and will finish at approximately 1.30pm back at Chingford Station.  We are mostly off road - 70% on gravel, 5% on grass. Just 25% on tarmac (paths and road). We think a Brompton would be OK. However NOT a road bike with slim wheels, need hybrid size tyres with plenty grip.  Sections of the route are “undulating” and overall it will be a challenging ride, A reasonable level of fitness will be needed.  GPX file of route at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/route-for-epping-forest-ramble/   Getting to Chingford from Central London. Obvious option is Overground (Weaver Line) from Liverpool St. 27 min ride, trains every 15 min, fare £3.60.
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.  How to cancel: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/557726/how-to-cancel-or-delete-a-free-order/
These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

    • That's not a bad idea, though I also want to keep the site as simple and user friendly as possibly. It's ultimately about getting a balance between being informative and being a good read. Stars are useful but I'd like people to read the reviews too.
    • Standard places haven’t got any? Anyone seen any on sale this week? thanks
    • Sue. You really don’t have to keep saying about the electoral system    a) we all know about it b) it doesn’t matter    FPTP is the system we have always had and hopefully we will get rid of it someday but it is what it is    when anyone suggests changing the system Corbyn is right there at the front of the queue to prevent it   so its pointless him or any of supporters complaining about it    the evidence you want is the result of the elections. You can’t have clearer evidence.
    • Has anyone from the school commented? Have they said why? Is it a fresh start? Is it that Grove in the name may have connotations of wealth and they want to attract more applicants from a wider area? Is that it currently is linked to the DKH Estate?
