We have 2 rides on 12th July both starting from Cutty Sark at 9.30 (note early start time). Gives everyone a chance to meet up. Eva is heading southeast to Eltham while Jamie is crossing the river to dockland.
Eva leading ride that will visit the 4 Ps of Eltham - a Pleasance, a Palace, a Pavillion and Parks, plus a Winter Garden. Late coffee stop at the cafe in Oxleas Wood. This ride has 2 fairly steep hills, where the ride leader might step down from the bike and push it up, it’s ca 24 km long and including a visit to the Pavillion and the coffee break stop will take us ca 3 hours. Start at Cutty Sark Gardens, 9.30 am.
Jamie leading. About 13 miles. Start 19.30m at Cutty Sark next to the Foot Tunnel. Finish around 1pm (allowing time for a coffee break).  Start through Foot Tunnel then east side of Isle of Dogs to Blackwall, East India Dock Basin, Lee flyover cycle path, Royal Victoria Dock, Excel Centre, Royal Albert Dock, London City Airport. Start return over Sir Steve Redgrave Bridge, then across Woolwich Ferry. Back along Thames Path (NCN 4) past Flood Barrier and O2. Map at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=179ZFRIA-lVf_FKGXBELKq7gwS20w_7f1&usp=sharing. We should perhaps warn anyone thinking of joining this ride that it does have a rather chequered history. For example have a read of the remarkable report from May 28th 2022 (https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2022/ride-report-28th-may-2022/.

Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.  How to cancel: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/557726/how-to-cancel-or-delete-a-free-order/.  Remember finish times are approximate and it is best not to schedule something immediately after the ride; give yourself an allowance for mechanical or other problems on the ride.
These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

    • If the product states that it's not suitable for anyone under the age of 18 on the package, were you not given a warning by the brand itself? Why would any advice provided by H&B assistants override that?
    • A festival-style trolley that will fit in a hatch back. For moving son into halls at uni with a very far away car park!  Thanks    Lottie
    • Hi, my daughter has a basic electric keyboard she really should clear out of her old room. It's a classic beginners one. Are you interested?  If so, I'll photograph it and find the name.    Lottie
    • I don’t think Reform will withstand the heat of any election.  Finding enough people to stand will be bad enough. Finding credible ones quite a bid tougher  I think yes this government is lacking in a long term plan and has not had a good first year. Today the least.   but the speed with which this was dealt with is a notable shift compared to last 14 years where months would drag by and we would constantly be told to draw a line under  if Labour called an election tomorrow, there is not a single party that could present a better alternative with any credibility. And that’s a low bar Reform are dangerous lunatics but more worrying is the descent of the Tories into the same swamp i also worry that England voters have contracted some melodrama virus after the Tories where we had 5 PMs in almost as many years  it’s ok for governments to be unpopular without needing to have an election every 1-2 years       Looks like Lucy Connolly will me one of those Reform candidates at next election tells you everything you need to know about that party and where the country would be headed
