Hello East Dulwich neighbours! 👋

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself—I'm Vera, the founder of Beauty and the Feast Dulwich. I was born and raised right here in East Dulwich, and it feels incredibly special to now be running a business in the very community that shaped me. My family still lives locally, and this area truly holds a big piece of my heart.

Beauty and the Feast is a tea room and boutique dine in or takeaway café nestled on Upland Road. We serve a delicious selection of toasties, bagels, milkshakes, and sweet treats—perfect for a quick bite on the go or a cosy sit-down. You can pop in for a slice of cake and coffee, book in for a full afternoon tea, or just enjoy a relaxed catch-up with friends. We really do hope there’s something for everyone!

🎉 Special Offers (for a limited time!)
Right now, we’re offering a whopping 25% off our children’s pamper and tea parties—a perfect way to celebrate birthdays or special milestones.
We’re also giving £5 off our signature afternoon teas, so it’s the perfect time to book and save on your next visit.

We’re still fairly new to the area and currently trialling opening hours while we find our rhythm, so do drop by, say hello, or follow along on social media to see what’s on. I’d love to meet more of you and continue building connections in the place I’ve always called home.

Thank you for the warm welcome so far—it means the world.

Warmly,
Vera x

I don’t do instagram so how c much would a cream tea for I be please?

And what is included?

Do you have a website ? and do you deliver?

Thanks.

I don't think you need to "do" Instagram, you can just click on the link.

ETA: I have been asked to remove the menus I posted from Instagram, as they only apply to Purley, not East Dulwich.

My apologies for any confusion.

Asked to remove the menus

Hi there, thanks so much for your message!

A Cream Tea for one is £15, and it includes:
️ A pot of tea
🍰 A generous slice of homemade cake:  Victoria sponge/ carrot cake, lemon cake or chocolate cake.
🍓 A freshly baked scone served with clotted cream, jam, and fresh strawberries

It’s the perfect little treat, served daily at our Dulwich location.

Yes, we do have a website where you can view booking info:

At the moment, we don’t offer regular delivery, but we’re happy to prepare orders for collection with a little notice—just drop us a message or call to arrange!

Hope to welcome you soon,

That link to your website doesn't work ? I'll try copy and pasting.

And the cream tea for one doesn't seem to be included on the menu that's on Instagram? Have I missed something somewhere? Apologies if so.

Thanks Sue

I’ve updated the Instagram page, thank you that was a really good point. I’m currently working on a menu for Dulwich that’s going to be a little more interesting and hopefully a little more competitive in terms of pricing … look forward to serving you guys soon!

    • Having enjoyed a day with Sayce HolmesLewis, I understand what you’re saying.  I appreciate your courage responding on here.
    • Thank you to everyone who has already shared their thoughts on this. Dawson Heights Estate in the 1980s, while not as infamous as some other estates, did have its share of anti-social behaviour and petty crime. My brother often used the estate as a shortcut when coming home from his girlfriend’s house, despite my parents warning him many times to avoid it. Policing during that era had a distinctly “tough on crime” approach. Teenagers, particularly those from working-class areas or minority communities, were routinely stopped, questioned, and in some cases, physically handled for minor infractions like loitering, skateboarding, or underage drinking. Respect for authority wasn’t just expected—it was demanded. Talking back to a police officer could escalate a situation very quickly, often with harsh consequences. This was a very different time. There were no body cameras, dash cams, or social media to hold anyone accountable or to provide a record of encounters. Policing was far more physical and immediate, with few technological safeguards to check officer behaviour. My brother wasn’t known to the police. He held a full-time job at the Army and Navy store in Lewisham and had recently been accepted into the army. Yet, on that night, he ran—not because he was guilty of anything—but because he knew exactly what would happen if he were caught on an estate late at night with a group of other boys. He was scared, and rightfully so.
    • I'm sure many people would look to see if someone needed help, and if so would do something about it, and at least phone the police if necessary if they didn't feel confident helping directly. At least I hope so. I'm sorry you don't feel safe, but surely ED isn't any less safe than most places. It's hardly a hotbed of crime, it's just that people don't post on here if nothing has happened! And before that, there were no highwaymen,  or any murders at all .... In what way exactly have we become "a soft apologetic society", whatever that means?
