Hi,

We are welcoming a puppy to our family in a couple of months, and since I'm new to the area, I'm looking for some local recommendations.

I am looking for the following:

  • Highly recommended vet
  • Groomers (they are a cavapoo, so will be a regular!)
  • Group puppy training classes

Thank you 🙂

Hello,

Our puppy arrived with us in the summer of 2020. Here are our recommendations…

Vet - The Neighbourhood Vet (Lordship Lane) They’re always lovely, no matter which vet you see - and have helped us with all sorts of issues

Groomers - We’ve been going to Marta for years. She’s brilliant. Our dog used to find grooming really stressful until we found Marta. She’s now in Penge which isn’t too far of a drive: https://www.4pawsdogstylist.com

Puppy training - we used this lady. Although I’m not sure if she still does puppy classes.  https://petcoach.co.uk/about/

Trainer - if you need a great trainer I’d highly recommend Iona - she’s brilliant. She helped us with recall and reactivity. She might do puppy classes too? https://choicefirstdogs.co.uk/pages/about-choice-first

    • Yes, we have a Casio CT-S100 we no longer need, except I dont think we have the headphones any more. It has a USB connection. £50? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7333639
    • Thank you! She is both spayed and microchipped, and reported missing on Petlog and with the vets.   She normally never goes out the front, certainly for never more than 10-15 minutes, so this is definitely new territory for her. There is lots of dense foliage across the road so there are plenty of places she could be hiding if she is spooked, so we are hoping she will come back when she is calm. The weather isn't helping, she never goes out in the rain. Thank you again!
    • Hi, Have you been letting her out the front door onto the street or would this be a first & therefore unfamiliar with the area? Does she respond to a name & is she spayed & microchipped? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes & will of course be looking our for her. I hope you are reunited with her soon. If not already, notify your street & surrounding streets (find out if they have Whatsapp groups) Dox will print & deliver free missing posters https://www.doxdirect.com/help/free-missing-pet-posters/ Call her at dusk & dawn when street & foot traffic is at its lowest.
