Active travel lobbyists always default to the two-tonne SUV narrative.....they think it adds weight to their argument but all it does is make them look a bit obsessive and out of touch with the reality of car ownership - remember the whole argument on here about how some lobbyists were classifying some small cars as SUVs to create the impression there was a massive problem with huge tank-like vehicles on our roads. Speaking of which whatever did happen to RaptorTruckMan - did the person behind that account get bored of their double-posting life!!! 😉

Why do you keep referring to those you don't agree with as active travel lobbyists?  Do you see us marching on Whitehall or City Hall on a daily basis?

Surely most agree with increased walking and cycling for personal and public health benefits. It's a no brainer.  And it is a fact that a single occupancy motorised vehicle is not the most efficient means for short journeys.

The polarisation of debate is not helpful.

Yes, used to love visiting Melbourne Grove residents and the local shops but that’s all in the past now due to road closures etc!

They can't have been very close friends if closing off one end of the street was enough to put you off seeing them...

In May Trump was saying that crime has substantially reduced in DC and how proud he was of the achievement now he’s calling in the National Guard because crime now is out of hand nothing has changed. It’s exactly like this thread. No, I don’t have to read it but it’s beyond boring and now has become totally Trumpian.

Okay Earl, my answer is yes it is still relevant to drive in zone 2, short journeys or otherwise because unlike you (with your view that everyone seems to drive SUVs ) it really is not a black and white issue

Still not an answer to the question of whether it's realistic to expect to be able to drive short journeys and park easily in zone 2 London. There is a good argument to say that prioritising resident parking (through a permit scheme) actually makes it easier for people to drive in London, as it enables them to keep a car where it might otherwise be difficult.

Anyway, I don't' think it's realistic to think you should be able to drive and park easily / wherever you like, in a built up area of inner London.

I didn't mention SUVs, the weight wasn't the point and I still find it funny that was the bit you took exception to. (the average car is now 1.7 tons btw, I just rounded it).

do you have a size inferiority complex as you seem to always mention vehicle sizes.

Size is relevant only in so far as we're talking about allocation of space. BTW, you're the one who has obsessed over size. As I say it's funny that's the bit you've fixated on. 🤔

Maybe if you weren't so aggressive in your approach, didn't spin others words and dogmaticcily try to force your views down others throats

I haven't spun others words. Your words are recorded as are mine. As for being aggressive, you started attacking me, so I responded in kind. If you want a civil discussion, try being civil.

It's just a childish rhetorical tactic he uses repeatedly to try and discredit someone when he can't engage with the substance.

Why do you assume that just because we are in zone 2 we have to ride a bike

Where on earth did I say this?
