Insuflo
I was going to post this in the Lost/Found/Stolen. The government shelled out £2.7m for photos of the King for public buildings but take-up wasn’t enthusiastic. But they won’t let on which institutions said yes or no. Has anyone seen one of these portraits locally? I’ll be on the lookout from now on. ianr
Was there any need or warrant for the Grauniad to use 'spurned' rather than, say,'declined'? But I guess if you've spent a load of money on photos to be gifted to institutions who then turn them down, it might feel you've been spurned, rather than simply declined. 🤷♀️ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365675-a-proper-charlie/#findComment-1716913 Share on other sites
Sue
Why didn't they find out beforehand what the likely take up would be? What a waste of money. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365675-a-proper-charlie/#findComment-1716915 Share on other sites

I’d have gone for ‘scorned’. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/365675-a-proper-charlie/#findComment-1716922 Share on other sites
