Johnny Dulwich
I'm trying to find a venue for my daughter's 18th but it's really difficult. Most venues don't want 18th birthday parties. We were looking at Brockwell Hall (The newly refurbed big ol' house in the park) but they want 4.5k for a night which has to finish at 11pm. My daughter tells me her friends don't go out till 11 which I think may be an exageration but I get her point. I'm looking for a bar/club type venue where I can have a DJ till 1/2am and that's about it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Pugwash
I think you will find that the majority of venues will not be open after midnight as in predominantly residential areas. Southwark have a list of venues to hire - you may find something that is open until 1 am. My granddaughter usually goes up town if wants a venue open until 2/3 pm 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366916-18th-birthday-venue-needed/#findComment-1719943 Share on other sites

Give it the information you have posted here, and ask for suggestions in your preferred geographical areas (eg South and Central London, or whatever). It recently saved me hours when I was looking to see if there was a cheaper energy tariff for my usage, and it gave me other very useful relevant information. I've also used it for several other things, and it has been eye openingly helpful. ETA: I know there are various issues around AI, so please if forum members are reading this and want to discuss them (I don't), don't do it on this thread! Penguin68
The problems my daughters faced when they were 18 was finding a venue to celebrate their birthdays where they weren't already known as customers! But that was 20 years ago! 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366916-18th-birthday-venue-needed/#findComment-1719999 Share on other sites
eastdulwichavenger
Its a few years ago now, but I organised my end of year prom (for year 13) at Off the Cuff in Herne Hill - was on the cheaper side to rent and at that age, felt very cool and clubby. I had my own 18th at Whirled Cinema in Loughborough Junction but I'm not sure if they take event bookings like that anymore Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366916-18th-birthday-venue-needed/#findComment-1720796 Share on other sites
Jellybeanz
How about trying the upstairs of some local pubs like EDT? They prob won't stay open until wee small hours but worth a try... or night at Rivoli Ballroom Catford (too old?!) or somewhere up in town for drinks rather than hiring somewhere. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/366916-18th-birthday-venue-needed/#findComment-1721058 Share on other sites
CPR Dave
What about the places they go to after 11 as it is? I think a lot of the reticence will stem from the fact that someone turning 18 now will ha e loads of school mates who are still only 17 and the liability for serving underage people is huge, plus the loss of profit selling mostly only soft drinks makes 18th birthdays a hard sell in pubs / clubs.
