I had assumed that this must be a scam due to the .co.uk domain (rather than police.uk or gov.uk), but it appears the be legit: https://www.met.police.uk/police-forces/metropolitan-police/areas/campaigns/2025/stay-informed-with-met-engage/

What on earth were they thinking setting up a site that could so easily be spoofed?!

When you dig into the site, there's an ancillary domain also involved in the system: neighbourhoodalert.co.uk;  and one pointed to by the latter as an example, stayintheknow.co.uk, which seems to have been set up by Lancashire.  All three long validated by Nominet and with same registrar.

At the Dulwich Hill SNT meeting last night we spoke about Met. Engage. Dulwich Hill had signed up 185 households.

Scheme  had been trialled in other parts of the country successfully and now the Met. Police are rolling it out, To the end of August, the Met Police had gathered 17,000 registrations which equites to 2% of households.

And why are you required to Register? They are a Police Service, not the FBI or CIA.

Erm... guessing it's like any service... so you can receive/be part of something relevant to you in the area where you happen to reside.

You don't have to sign up but you might miss out on an excellent Tesco offer or two. 🤷‍♀️

I'd rather go to actual local Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings and see the whites of their eyes.  Ours in Peckham Rye Park ward (maps of areas the ward covers are on the police website; no idea about the new one!) used to be very well attended, but sadly now not so.  The local police of the SNT seem to change far too regularly so they never have a chance to really know the area and the people.  And the last meeting, held at the Tenants Hall of Brenchley Gardens (so right on the edge of the geographical area), was held with one day's notice.  Not good.

I'm guessing they're busy. I found out just now that the SNT has tracked down the kids who attacked my dog, had strong words with their parents, and the gang has now broken up. I got a lot of detail, which I won't go into here, but it sounds as if they were also quite compassionate towards some of the kids, some of whom may not have had the easiest of lives.

I know that those kids had nothing to do with the attack of the man in August and that they are also aware of the fireworks problem. Sounds like good community policing.

So does that mean they know who was responsible for that violent attack on the chap in the Rye park?

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
