On the 20th Sept have 2 rides arranged.  Bruce is leading a shortish, very easy ride showcasing the Lovely Waterlink Way while Jamie is heading to the Thames to follow the Great River Race.

13 mile easy cycling route. Start/finish Peckham Square (Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, Peckham Library). Meet 10am, back by 1pm. Ride to Ladywell Fields, then up and down Waterlink Way. This is one of the nicest off-road paths in London, about 1.2 miles.  Then National Route 21 via Brookmill Park to Cutty Sark. Final leg back to Peckham via Folkstone Gardens and Bridgehouse Meadows.  Easy ride. Bit of uphill at start then downhill or flat. Lots of off road or cycle lane. Good ride for less confident cyclists – and a coffee stop at Ladywell Fields (Good Hope Café).  Bruce leading. Report from 2024 ride https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2024/ride-reports-31st-august-2024/.  Google map of route: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1evRH6uw3lByyIjmMxnVsEyyMoSMp27g&usp=sharing.
The aim is to follow the Great River Race from start to finish.  Around 300 human-powered craft take part in this race every year, craft of all shapes and sizes heading up with the tide from Millwall Slip to Ham, a  bit from Richmond. We will start from Canada Water (next to Canada Water Library, opposite Canada Water Station) at 10am with Cap’n Jamie in charge. Ride first to a good point near South Dock to watch the first boats start. Then ride upstream stopping at several points. We hope to reach Richmond, near the finish, by 2pm. Please note this is a very approximate finish time. Do not come on this ride if you need to be finished promptly. We will guide riders to Richmond Station to get transport back.
It may well be a bit chaotic but will be fun. Route is 21 miles, so be prepared. Check and lube your bike, bring water, snacks, suitable clothing, spare inner tube etc. At present the forecast is dry. So “Hoo-ray and up she rises” off we go!
These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides organised by Southwark Cyclists, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/. Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

    • 22/9 MISSING CAT: her name is CJ, she’s got a very distinctive round face. She lives on Jerningham road. We usually let her out with a collar that has a tracker but unfortunately last night she went out without it on 😭 and now she hasn’t come home.  She’s usually very scared of sudden noises and cars so she’s not one to roam on main streets but more across gardens. She also got stuck on a tree once and was too scared to jump down. If you see a ginger cat in your garden or tree, or anywhere near SE14 5NH then please dm me. Thank you so much Edit: she is chipped and neutered    please call 07467 901 578 or bring her to the vets to get scanned
    • Colin painted a bathroom ceiling for me at very short notice, fitting it in over the weekend to meet my sudden deadline. His quote and final price were fair and reasonable and he  tidied up throughly; I didn't spot any paint drops on the bathroom furniture or floor. Thank you Colin!
    • Hello, I have seen several reviews written about Piplings Nursery from a number of years ago now. I would be keen to hear from any parents who have dealt with them more recently as we are interested in sending our son there.  Many thanks!
    • I wondered if anyone has tried an N Family nursery, particularly the new East Dulwich one but interested in reviews more generally? What are your experiences?
