Maths and Biology GCSE tutor

Hi! My name is Dan, and I'm available to tutor Maths and Biology at GCSE level either in person or online at £30 per hour. I graduated from the University of Manchester, where I studied Neuroscience and Psychology, and am now doing my master's degree in Psychiatric Research (with a biological focus) at King's College London. During my undergrad, I tutored multiple GCSE students in Maths and Biology; students who wanted to pass, and students who wanted to achieve higher grades.

I have always been passionate about Maths and Biology, and having studied them extensively over the years, I have learned that curiosity and understanding are necessary for high achievement. This is why my lessons typically try to stimulate curiosity (through discussion and questions), in order for my students to develop a deeper understanding and enjoyment of the subject.

On top of this, I have found that understanding the specifics of the course syllabus is incredibly useful for students. Having completed an A-Level in Psychology in 5 months with no teacher support and achieving an A, I learned how to read and understand course syllabuses and mark schemes to learn exactly what the exam board is looking for. Schools often don't explain this, but when I expose my students to it, it usually gives them a greater sense of control and confidence.

Finally, the psychological content of my degree taught me the effectiveness of several learning techniques - such as mind palaces, mnemonics and spaced repetition - which I incorporate into my lessons with great effect; again, something often left out of lessons in school.

GCSE Maths and Science: 9's

A-Level Maths and Further Maths: A*'s

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
    • Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
