malumbu
I was surprised to hear from the POTUS that London will be adopting Sharia Law. And how bad London, and the rest of the country, has become. Jenijenjen
Regarding your second sentence, I tend to vaguely agree with him but for very, very different reasons, one of many being his toxic influence wafting over the Atlantic. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1721612 Share on other sites

Sadiq Khan has done a lot for London. Good on him for not responding to the Orange One, but a pity nobody else has (to the best of my knowledge). 3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1721621 Share on other sites
Jenijenjen
Sadiq Khan has indeed responded calling Trump "racist, sexist, misogynistic and islamophobic." https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cre53qn8v07o So agree @Sue every time Trump opens his mouth. torrents of ignorance spew out. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1721624 Share on other sites

Thanks, I hadn't seen that. I await the White House's response with interest! Sephiroth
Which Trump thread to choose. But I’ll pick this one to say some of us were called hysterical for calling out Trump for what he is and what he would do. If we posted something like this a couple of years ago we would be laughed at as unserious https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-calls-chicago-mayor-illinois-governor-be-jailed-2025-10-08/ 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1723146 Share on other sites
IlonaM
A friend in Strasbourg sent me this link to the Jon Sopal-Emily Matliss podcast the other day - it makes for sobering viewing: 1 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1723151 Share on other sites
Earl Aelfheah
It amazes me how little outrage there actually is. The US is very clearly, and very quickly falling into autocracy. And as noted above, there are an alarming number in the UK who appear to support the direction the US is taking. 3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1723155 Share on other sites

At best I have people who detest Trump shrugging and saying something like “what ya gonna do?” Like that is any kind of answer what we gonna do is condemn, and watch out for same happening here - and watch out for all the handmaidens who would allow this to happen. Apologists for Farage, Jenrick etc 3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367628-trumps-britain/#findComment-1723158 Share on other sites

IlonaM
https://actionnetwork.org/events/no-tyrants-2-human-write "No Tyrants 2 - HUMAN WRITE # Start: Saturday, October 18, 2025•01:00 PM End: Saturday, October 18, 2025•03:00 PM Location:US Embassy London•33 Nine Elms Ln, Nine Elms, London SW11 7US, London, SW11 7US GB Host Contact Info: [email protected] NO TYRANTS 2: RALLY AND LAUNCH OF “HUMAN WRITE #___” 18 OCT 2025, 1-3pm @ US EMBASSY LONDON, 33 Nine Elms Lane, London SW11 7US We rose up once, and on October 18 we’ll rise again—because one protest isn’t enough to protect our democracy. As the American president, Donald Trump, escalates his authoritarian power grab, the NO TYRANTS nonviolent movement continues to grow stronger. We are united once again to remind the world: the world has no use for an American tyrant king, and the power belongs to the people. Our first No Tyrants protest on June 14th gathered nearly 1000 people outside the US Embassy in London—a show of solidarity that proved the strength of our movement. Now, on Saturday, October 18th, we’re holding our second international No Tyrants protest—because this isn’t about one day, it’s about building a movement that lasts. On October 18th, come join us as we launch the world premiere of a new project! “HUMAN WRITE #____” is a protest installation spanning two continents. We're raising our collective voices to send messages directly to the White House. Forget AI, social media and the world of algorithms and influencers. HUMAN WRITE #____ is about real people getting their message across one letter at a time. How does it work? - Participants will be offered a blank card and a seat at one of the many typewriters displayed. - Write your personal protest message to Donald Trump — exercising your right to free speech. - Sign your card "Human Write" instead of your name (to protect your privacy). - Your card will be numbered and photographed for a digital archive, and then sent to Washington DC, where a group will hand-deliver thousands of messages from around the world. Multiple international locations will be participating on 18 Oct and beyond, creating a flood of messages from around the world to Washington DC. Everyone is welcome. If you can, bring a friend! On October 18, rise up, take to the streets, and say it loud: no thrones and no crowns for a wannabe tyrant king! Join us for the launch of this special project and hear inspiring speakers at NO TYRANTS 2. A core principle behind all of our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events."
