27th Sept,  Ride 1. . Circular Ride from Cutty Sark to Danson Park and Welling < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cycle-ride-from-cutty-sark-to-danson-park-and-welling-tickets-1718075452929?aff=oddtdtcreator >
.From the Cutty Sark up the hill in Greenwich Park and on to Eltham and Danson Park. Continue on circular route through Welling and Plumstead to Woolwich. Coffee stop at Woolwich then Thames Path passing the Flood Barrier back to Cutty Sark. This ride consists mostly of quiet roads and cycle paths. Start 10:00am, aim to finish 1:30pm, Mike K. leading.
Easy 15km (9.5 mile) ride starting 10am at Deal Porter Square (next to Canada Water Library and opposite Canada Water Station, SE16 7AR). Ride to Greenwich Park. At St Mary’s Gate collect any riders who prefer to meet there, need to be there for 10.30. Then up the hill in Greenwich Park walking the steep bit if you need to. Do a circuit of Blackheath on the well-surfaced off-road paths after which we return to Greenwich Park, ride down the hill and on to Canada Water. Several stops at points of interest including at the Deer Enclosure in Greenwich Park where the deer have now returned. A coffee break somewhere if people vote for it. Simon K. leading. Aim to finish by 12.30.
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.
This ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
