On Oct 4th we have one long ride to the Frieze Sculptures in Regents Park. and a short ride to cross the bridges from Lambeth to Battersea.
Start at 10.00 from Dulwich Park Café (Dulwich Clock Café, middle of park). Ride via Herne Hill and Loughborough Junction to Kennington and Oval up to Vauxhall Bridge. Along the river to Westminster Bridge, then St James Park and on to Hyde Park.  From Hyde Park we will make our way to Regents Park to the English Garden to see the Sculptures on show for Frieze 2025. This is a really fun outdoor display held every October. You will find a quick overview here. We'll allow a half hour to look around the pieces from 14 artists and take a coffee break nearby. If you want longer looking at the sculptures - then bring your own drink/snack.
Returning across Hyde Park then Exhibition Road and South Kensington down to the river and across to Battersea from where we will ride through Clapham Common and Brockwell Park back to Dulwich Park. The ride will be about 20 miles and allowing extra time for the exhibition, we will aim to be back in Dulwich by 2pm. Report of a previous Frieze  2024 ride here
(Also the Bloomberg Connects app provides a free digital guide with exclusive content and a free audio tour narrated by the curator Fatoş Üstek. )
Back on Aug 23rd we did a ride crossing the 6 central bridges over the Thames. Now is the chance to head upstream and ride the next 5 bridges, Lambeth, Vauxhall, Chelsea, Albert and Battersea.  10 am start at Waterloo Station. Meet beside the Victory Arch next to the Cab Rd, just off York Rd. Ride to Lambeth Bridge via Lambeth North station, Archbishops Park and Black Prince Rd. Left off Lambeth Bridge and along C6 to Vauxhall Bridge. On south side use crossing to get on the Thames Path and mostly follow this to Battersea Power Station. Continue through Battersea Park and turn on to Albert Bridge. Left off Albert Bridge and along the short stretch of embankment to Battersea Bridge. Cross this, our farthest bridge, and head back to Battersea Park. Turn on to Chelsea Bridge and at the far side take a 2-stage right on to C8 followed by immediate left to Lupus St and Pimlico. Use the cycle crossing to get on to the cycleway on Vauxhall Bridge Rd and cross Vauxhall Bridge for the second time. Finish by crossing Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and take C5 to Waterloo Millenium Green opposite the Old Vec, where the ride will finish. 10 miles, no hills. Several possible coffee spots if time allows. Bruce leading. Aiming to finish at 12.30. Route at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=14RgZ0zoVie6bUSZmAGJ9Qk6TJWTeUf0&usp=sharing
Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.
These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/
