What sort of fire extinguisher.do we need for a.domestic flat london se22?

Recommended Posts

We’re a group of 5 properties in SE22 who share buildings insurance. Our Insurer has advises that we all get fire extinguishers & fire blankets.

Anyone know which type of extinguisher is best? Powder ones seem to get varied reviews on the sites I checked..

Also if you can suggest a good place to get them from that would be helpful. As there are 5 of us we’re hoping we may be able to find somewhere offering a bulk discount…

You have to use the right extinguisher for the type of fire - water/foam not to be used for live electrical fires for example. A quick Google says powder extinguishers can be used on the most different types of fire.

In a public/commercial setting fire extinguishers have to be serviced every year. Not sure the recommendation for residential ones, but when you buy extinguishers and fire blankets check if there's an expiry date.

    • Thanks, yes I need the y piece for the water to go to IN both washing machine AND the dishwasher but the y piece doesn’t fit on the B yellow pipe…  I’m not worried about the waste pipe for now, I’m just concerned about the supply to get water in to both appliances
    • Not sure about the word “input” - do you mean outflow / waste ? Red figure A looks like the sink overflow. If B is the washing machine outflow then that’s where you want your Y fitting. ( assuming all above conjecture is correct). I’d put a cap on that chrome threaded dead connection too. Don’t just rely on the valve. It all looks a bit of a mess TBH 🫣.
